My dear friends
Again, I was very moved by all the greetings,
encouragement and prayers during the time at Entabeni Hospital and for my birthday last
week. I would love to respond to every e-mail in a more personal way but my condition has
placed severe limits on what I can accomplish in a day.
In April the presenter of the special programme for
the disabled on Radio Khwezi, Mandla Khwela, asked me to write a brief account of my
struggle with Motor Neuron Disease and disability. A friend read it on air on my behalf.
Many listeners expressed their appreciation for an opportunity to get some insight into my
situation.
Recently Mandla asked me to translate my article into
English for the benefit of a wider audience, to which I gladly complied. As I did it I
thought of you too.
Although I have tried my best to repeat fairly
accurately what I had written in isiZulu some idiomatic expressions went lost. For those
who are interested I have included the original isiZulu version as well.
