My dear friends
Writing to you again from my own room is an added joy. We
came back from Entabeni Hospital on Friday evening.
Thank you for all the prayers for the important transition
from the hospital's Bear 1000 ventilator to my new LTV 1000 which went off extremely
smoothly.
For some reason the arrangements for the trip back home and
the journey itself were beset with complications. I am convinced that if the Lord had not
intervened I would have died in the ambulance. There must have been a spiritual battle in
the high places.
Since May 2004 we have made good friends with many at
Entabeni. They certainly go out of their way to make us feel at home. Still though, a
hospital remains a hospital and the air-conditioner in our unit was a 'cool' reminder of
that fact.
Understandably there are cases where nursing a person in my
condition from home becomes an impossibility but I cannot thank the Lord enough that He in
His infinite wisdom lined up a set of circumstances that make it possible for me to face
the MND monster with massive support right here in my house.
So, after another close brush with death here am I again in
the comfort of my own room. I had to smile as I remembered Didier Schott's remark with
blood on his face, minutes after our car accident in Paris in May 2001. He told his wife
over the phone, "The indestructible Fano." Of course, until the Lord dictates
otherwise I remain indestructible.
After such an episode I find myself asking once again,
"Where do we go from here?"
Allow me to share with you from the unfolding story of a
newlywed couple which has a special meaning for me at this juncture. I am well aware that
some marriage counsellors might have differing views but the spiritual lesson in this
story is too precious for me.
Dorothea Stegen from South Africa has just married Artur
Schmunk from Germany. As far I know, up to the wedding day Dorothea did not know whether
their new home would be in Germany, South Africa or even Russia. Artur is of Russian
German stock and was born in the former Soviet Union.
What moves me is Dorothea's preparedness to accept Artur's
decision on the matter. She trusts him to take the right direction for their mutual
future.
Because Artur likes talking to me about our walk with the
Lord I know that He has earnestly sought the Lord's face as to His will for their lives.
He told me that He did not want to make a move until He was sure of the Lord's approval.
Dear friends, sometimes I am tempted to wish to know
immediately where the Lord will take me next but I remind myself that mine is to entrust
Him with my whole life. His ways and timing are perfect.
"Commit your way to the LORD; trust in
him and he will do this" (Psalm 37:5)
Have a blessed week.
Pressing on!
In His love
Fano Sibisi
