Christmas thought - 23 December 2005

My dear friends

Christmas thought

As we approach Christmas my heart goes out to those who will have a lot of fun but will miss the real the meaning and purpose of Christmas.

My thoughts take me back to the '70s . A fellow university student arrogantly declared that he rejected the Christian message because it is based on cronyism - if you a friend of the son you get access to the father. Tragically, the young intellectual just did not get it; in fact his understanding amounts to blasphemy.

This student must have been exposed to Scripture portions like these:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him." (John 3:36)

'Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me."' (John 14:6)

The wonderful news is that God has graciously made the Gospel message so simple that it is within everyone's reach. We are called upon to believe with the heart and confess with the mouth.

Friends, whether atheists, agnostics and scoffers like it or not Christ is God's appointed way to Him. Christmastime is a wonderful opportunity for Christians to deepen their faith and reach out to non-believers with the Good News. May Christmas 2005 find us doing just that.

Have a blessed Christmas.

Pressing on!

In His love

Fano Sibisi
