My dear friends
One of the lovely visits I had this week was that of John
Walters, a British missionary friend serving in rural Botswana. Bruno Hlongwane kindly
brought him to my house.
It was truly refreshing to listen as he shared with us how
the Lord hears and answers their childlike prayers as they seek His glory. In fact, he
leaves this weekend for the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, the trip itself being part
of God's provision for the work in Botswana.
John struck a special cord with me when he mentioned how
looking to the Lord has been the recurring theme impressed on his heart these days. Some
of my friends know how I cherish Hebrews 12:2,
"Looking unto Jesus the author and
finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
This verse is one of the portions of Scripture whose deep
and practical meaning has been enhanced during my 'MND years'. As I told a friend
recently, I have to look to the Lord daily otherwise I believe that I would have been
overwhelmed already by the challenges Motor Neuron Disease has brought my way. Seeking
God's face has to be my daily practice since I have become even more acutely aware that
all my fountains are in Him.
Jesus is the author and finisher of my faith; by His grace I
want to finish the race and receive the crown.
Have a blessed weekend!
Pressing on!
In His love
Fano Sibisi
