Dear brethren
Part of me is with you as you gather around issues of vital
importance.
Think of me as I wake up daily to the challenge of an
increasingly dysfunctional body. After some slow promising developments a bout of
pneumonia in March forced me into a situation where I had to take strong medication. I
also landed in hospital for 9 days. Thereafter I have to admit that my condition has
worsened.
One of the greatest difficulties I struggle with is the
further weakening of my right arm and hand which limits my communication severely. As our
Lord promised that He will give us a way out in impossible circumstances there is hope for
my situation.
Thank you very much for your contribution towards the
software that will enable me to use eye movement to execute certain tasks on the computer.
We expect it to arrive soon.
Your main speaker's topic comes at the right time in the
history of the Church.
[Hans Keller from Campus for Christ - Switzerland, will
speak on the topic "Heilig oder Scheinheilig? Sauberbleiben in einer unkeuschen
Gesellschaft! Lohnt sich das?" (Holy or Hypocritical? Staying clean in an unchaste
society! Is it worth it?)]
Allow me to quote a few lines from Spurgeon's devotion for
today. To some, his language might be too strong.
'"He that hath clean hands, and a pure
heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully."
- Psalm 24:4
Outward practical holiness is a very
precious mark of grace.
The pure in heart shall see God, all others
are but blind bats.
He who is content with husks, will be
reckoned with the swine. Does the world satisfy thee? Then thou hast thy reward and
portion in this life; make much of it, for thou shalt know no other joy.'
Finally, let me testify to the fact that it is definitely
worth it to pursue holiness and purity in this day and age. In the last 5 years of living
with a terminal illness, MND, I have had much time to think and reflect. I do not regret
one day or moment of striving towards a holy and pure life. On the contrary, my heart
cries with that of William Cowper's:
"Lord, it is my chief complaint
That my love is weak and faint;
Yet I love Thee, and adore:
O for grace to love Thee more!"
O for grace to be more holy and pure!
Dear brethren, the Lord bless you!
