As you pray -22 May 2009

My dear friends

We were happy to see the former Russian CCE student, Valentina Khokhryakova. She visited us with some Russiaa brethren who, like her, are involved in the young ministry. They flew back home earlier in the week. Your prayer support for the brethren and the ministry will be appreciated.

It is good to have Herbert and Mientjie Reimer visiting together with the children. They have settled in Paraguay and they desire to see God at work in their country. As they fly back home let us remember them.

Our prayers are with Onkel Erlo and the team that flew to Europe this week. May God go before them in every way.

Onkel Heino, Tante Alida and other members of the family flew over to Romania this week for the wedding of Simon and Andrea tomorrow. We join the families in wishing the young pair God's blessing,

Klaus Alius from Bielstein requests prayers as he ministers in 'de Cederborg, Northern Netherlands, over a few days.

Jean-Pierre Coulin requests prayers for the AGM and Annual Conference of CFT-France on Saturday, 30 May. The main focus will be pornography in the modern media, like the internet and cell phones.

I was glad to hear from Juerg Schuppli, the principal of DSS in Switzerland. The other Thursday, the Swiss school hosted DSS schools from Germany and France for a sports day. It is a blessing to see how even in fun a godly spirit can be maintained.

We are thankful that even though Ascension Day is no longer observed as a public holiday in South Africa CFT in KwaZulu-Natal had a special action in Durban. The crowds were made  aware of the significance of our Lord's ascension. They got to hear the gospel message.

Dr Albu van Eeden will appreciate your prayers as he ministers in Pretoria this weekend.

A Church Is a Family

Charles E. Jefferson once described the difference between an audience and a church. He said, "An audience is a crowd. A church is a family. An audience is a gathering. A church is a fellowship. An audience is a collection. A church is an organism. An audience is a heap of stones. A church is a temple." And he concludes, "Preachers are ordained not to attract an audience, but to build a church." I hope that everyone in this room understands that critical difference. If the Lion's club or the Kiwanis club is torn with dissension, it is a shame. But when the church of Jesus Christ is in turmoil, it is a tragedy. Christ depends on us.

Have a blessed weekend .
