As you pray -20 December 2008
Today, part of me is at
Chibini, my physical and spiritual birthplace, My older brother Moses, his wife
Cynthia, their children and indeed the whole Sibisi family have invited the brethren,
relatives, friends and neighbours for a thanksgiving service.
Moses and Cynthia, who have businesses
in the area, have built a new house for their family. Their first love is God and His work
and they see His hand in their success. It is their burning desire that today, above
everything, God's name should be glorified.
On such occasions, our minds go back to
the day in 1970 when God in His mercy sent Onkel Heino to Dad and the family to bring
us the Good News. In our darkest night, God reached out to us with His heavenly
light. That was the turning point for the family.
We were overjoyed that Onkel Erlo could
drive to Chibini and share from God's Word. He has a special place in our hearts.
Moses also has an attachment to Onkel
Friedel and his family. He gathered most of his business experience whilst he was working
as an assistant, and later as a manager of some of Onkel Friedel's businesses. Moses also
tells of the spiritual lessons that he learnt from Onkel Friedel. Onkel's Friedel's
presence at Chibini today means a lot to him.
Bruno Hlongwane came by to share about
the wonderful opportunity they had in Durban on Monday where they proclaimed the message
of Christ and His salvation to the shopping crowds. May the Lord further bless the good
seed of His Word.
Once again, on Christmas Day, Bruno and
the Roos family are planning to visit a few local hospitals. They bring a brief
Christmas message and the Roos boys play trumpets. Bruno said they would be taking along
Christian literature and if possible, gifts for the children. Your prayers will be
appreciated.
Dr Peet and Andra Botha left on
Wednesday for services in the USA. Their itinerary will take them to quite a few
states, Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota, California,Oklahoma and
Hawaiit. Peet says, "The theme for the services this time is
Malachi 4:6 'And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the
heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a
curse.'"
Dr Albu van Eeden is due to visit DFL's
Zavora Clinic in Mozambique for a few days, early next weeks. We pray on.
As many of us will be having Christmas
celebrations in the coming days, may we be drawn even closer to our Saviour.
Our prayers will be with our European brethren as they will be coming together for
the conference (26-30 December) in Bilten, Switzerland. Onkel Friedel and Tante Rita are
due to fly over to Switzerland in the coming days.
We rejoice with the families and
friends of Edmund Duvel and Salome Laederach as the young pair will be getting engaged in
Switzerland on Sunday, 28 December. May God bless them.
Again, let me share with you a thought
I had recently on Christmas presents.
Surely, some of you
have heard the Christmas song with the refrain,
"Who
needs Christmas presents?
We already have the
King."
Especially in the
current financial climate, many fathers would love to hear the wife and the children
sing,
"Who
needs Christmas presents?
We already have the King."
Seriously now; presents
or no presents aside, there is depth in these words. Stop. Ponder.
"Who
needs Christmas presents?
We already have the King."
Again, I wish you a truly blessed
Christmas week.
- Pressing on!
In His love
- Fano Sibisi
