As you pray -5 December 2008

My dear friends

We are thankful that Dr Jan Pienaar arrived safely in Paraguay. He has already taken some services. We pray on.

Following the vote on critical issues in Switzerland last Sunday it would seem that the media was preoccupied with the 'prescription heroine' aspect.

Johannes Laederach sent me an analysis of the results,

"We thank God that the legalization of cannabis was declined by the Swiss people. We are also happy about two of four counties who turned down a Swiss school reform. It would bring along a compulsory school start already at the age of four and would lead to a centralized nationwide development of curricula and text books which we consider as not favourable to Christian values. However, two other counties accepted the reform. The reform will become compulsory nationwide if at least 10 of our 26 counties accept it. As there are still outstanding decisions of some counties, the fight isn't over yet.

It was also saddening to hear that the "anti-drug" programme which includes the free distribution of heroin by doctors to "incurably" addicted people was voted to be continued. However, as cited in an email you once forwarded, "Satan may win some battles, but he has already lost the war!"

Some of you are already praying for our dear brother Norbert Ziegler who unexpectedly found himself battling a vicious kind of cancer. He is a great help to Georg Grau and the ministry at Lindach. Georg has asked that we remember Norbert before the Lord. We are thankful that he is getting top class medical treatment but above all else we look to the Great Physician.

So, our one and only Tante Hilde Steiler passed away on Sunday. She would have turned 95 in February 2009.

I have pleasant (and some funny) memories of our time with her. She 'owned' Munich and liked her traditional Bavarian attire. Her senior age served her well because she could approach almost anyone and address them as 'Kind' (Child). Pfundig (Wonderful).

We thank the Lindach brethren for looking after her in her sunset years.

Our prayers are with the Eurochor as they will be performing at Christmas concerts in France and Belgium this weekend.

Didier Schott is thankful and excited about the venue they were able to secure for tomorrow evening's concert - the exquisite church, the 'Eglise de la Madeleine' in Paris.

As mentioned before, we shall be thinking of CFT and other pro-life organisations who will be part of the 'Walk of Life' in Amsterdam tomorrow.

Greetings from Lionel and Renate Roosemont in Belgium. Because of their example, consistency and perseverance they have become symbols of the fight against euthanasia.

Lionel has been invited to be a speaker at an international symposium on euthanasia in  Washington in May 2009. Let us remember the Roosemonts.

Last Saturday Radio Khwezi listeners around Empangeni in Zululand came together for a thanksgiving service, They shared personal testimonies of how the Lord had intervened in their lives through messages they heard at Khwezi.

The one programme they focussed on was 'Duduzanani' (Comfort one another). There, listeners exchange prayer requests and words of encouragement. If the presenters feel the caller needs personal counselling they are advised to make use of our confidential help-line. And they do.

Keep praying for the Khwezi ministry.

The weekly KwaSizabantu Youth Conference is due to begin on Sunday and we would value your prayer support for this massive undertaking.

One of the aspects to pray about is the weather. The present weather makes the transporting and hosting of thousands of young people somewhat more challenging.

At the June conference the young people asked Onkel Erlo to invite political leaders to the December conference. They would like to seek clarity from the politicians on issues that are of concern to them. This session is scheduled for 10 December, Wednesday evening. Join us in prayer.

Have a blessed weekend.

Pressing on!

In His love
