As you pray -28 November 2008
My dear friendsJan de Bruin is thankful for the blessed CFT-Day they had.
Jan also shared with me that this year the major annual pro-life action the 'Walk of
Life' is planned for Saturday 6 December. CFT is to join other pro-life organisations
in Amsterdam on that day. Your prayers will be appreciated.
Dorothea Killus has requested that we
pray for a crucial meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Christian
Network (ICN) in Tuebingen, today and tomorrow. We are thinking especially of Prof Peter
Beyerhaus and the top leadership.
Our thoughts are with the Eurochor as
they will be performing in different countries over the next three weekends. Juerg
Laederach has requested that we pray for this weekend's Christmas concerts in Wetzikon and
Will, Switzerland.
Johannes Laederach has passed on a
special prayer request. The details follow,
"I have been asked by Stefan Dörig, a Swiss
brother active for CFT to inform you about and request your prayers for next
weekend's votes in Switzerland. Especially three items are very important from a
CFT point of view: First of all, there is an initiative which wants to allow the
consumption and under certain circumstances also the cultivation of the drug cannabis.
Secondly, we'll have to decide about a (so-called) "anti-drug
programme" which among other things includes the "measure" of the
government freely distributing a certain daily amount of heroin to "incurably"
addicted persons. This programme has been an experiment for some years and is now planned
to be signed into law.
And thirdly, some counties will have to decide on a nationwide
school reform which among other things would force children to start school already at the
age of four (whereas now kindergarten is optional and the compulsory school only starts at
the age of 6 to 7 years). We as CFT Switzerland oppose to the government starting to
educate (and thus influence) our children at such a young age already, especially when we
consider the current situations at public schools."
We are thankful that Dr Albu van Eeden
and the DFL team came back safely from Angola towards the end of last week. They are
overflowing with gratitude for the privilege of seeing to the spiritual and medical needs
of the people of Angola.
Dr Jan Pienaar left on Wednesday for
Paraguay to visit his family and the brethren. He also intends to visit some
brethren in Bolivia.
We are also thinking of the staff and
pupils of Domino Servite School as they will be having the end of the year function, Prize
Giving, this evening.
Monday 1 December is World AIDS
Day. Once again, there will be flashy government-sponsored functions, statistics will be
branded about but the reality of the havoc caused by AIDS on communities, families and
individuals is beyond description. May God's light shine through into this miserable
darkness.
Have a blessed weekend.
- Pressing on!
In His love
