As you pray - 1 November 2008
Tante Frieda Mout from Jakobsbron in
the southern part of the Netherlands would like to thank us for the prayer support. She
had a blessed time with the students of Social Pedagogic last week.
Last week I got some refreshing
greetings from a group of children that were gathered in Lindach. They told me that they
were preparing for a visit to an Old Age Home, to sing for the old people. I imagined the
joy of the old people at seeing the sea of sweet little faces.
Visiting the aged, the sick and the
imprisoned is a ministry on its own. May the Lord bless those who obey His inner prompting
to go where He sends them.
Rowan and Coni Muller flew over from
Switzerland to join the family for the wedding of Andrew and Jerusha last weekend.
Yesterday, as they flew back they took with them greetings to our friends in the Brienz,
Interlaken and Thun region; the Thoenis, Maeders, Megerts, Schneiders ... We appreciate
their prayer support, and so they ours.
Heather Leach also returned to England
on Wednesday after attending the wedding and seeing to other commitments.
The Doctors for Life entourage to
Angola started off yesterday. Johan Claassen and Mario Rocha, who are part of the team,
sent me some logistical details. It is a massive undertaking; travelling for days,
providing medical services (including eye surgery) and, most importantly, pointing people
to the Saviour and Great Physician. Our prayers accompany them.
- Mario Rocha also requests that we pray futher for DFL's
Zavora Clinic in Mozambique.
A container with goods for the clinic
is due to arrive soon and getting it through the border is a big challenge.
The builder, Gerrit-Jan, together with two other Dutch friends are
expected in Mozambique on 8 November to continue with the next phase of the building of
the clinic.
Mario requests that we pray that all the documentation for the
clinic will be finally accepted by the Mozambican authorities.
Tannie Esther Bornman and Helga Landwehr came by today to thank
for prayers and to share about their trip to the Eastern and Western Cape. They had
wonderful opportunities for ministry.
We are thinking of the leadership of Radio Khwezi as they meet
today with the structures of the Masibumbane Listeners' Club. We would appreciate your
ongoing prayer for Khwezi.
In the latest update Linda Magqabi shared with me about more
opportunities they have had to proclaim the Gospel and to present facts about HIV and
AIDS.
In addition to DFL's 'In Your Face' DVD Linda has prepared a
PowerPoint presentation with facts that dispel myths about HIV and AIDS.
Our thoughts are with him and the team today as they will be doing a presentation in
Sharpeville, Gauteng.
It is end of the year examination time for many of our young
people and friends. They will appreciate your prayers.
A friend in the USA, Penny SantaRita,
has sent a special and urgent request,
"I would be so grateful if you
could please request prayer for the elections in the USA on 4th November. Very
important issues are at stake. On today's, Thursday 30th, broadcast on Focus on the
Family, Dr. Dobson talks about the serious vote which will take place in California on the
same day regarding traditional marriage between one man and one woman. Whatever
happens in California will affect the rest of USA. A prayer meeting is being held in a
stadium in San Diego California on Saturday to pray about the ssues."
Have a blessed weekend.
Pressing on!
In His love
