On Sunday Onkel Erlo shared with us about the good progress in the
demolishing and clearing-up phase of the burnt-down auditorium. It is touching to see how
God's children from different parts of the globe would like to see a speedy reconstruction
of the auditorium. An aspect to pray about is the logistics of getting the building
materials on site.
A visit on Sunday by a group of young men warmed my heart. The
Lord met with these boys in a special way whilst they were pupils at Domino Servite
School. Since then they have been vessels in the Lord's hand.
After praying with me and encouraging me they fetched their
trumpets and played 3 pieces. Of course, I just had to ask them to play the last one
'Hinauf auf Zions Hoehen' one more time.
As the Lord reminds you pray for these young preachers. There
is something of real beauty when God's fire burns in a young heart.
Bruno Hlongwane is sending encouraging reports from
the Eastern Cape where he is part of a big combined team from KwaSizabantu and Smithfield.
The invitation from our Eastern Cape parliamentarian friend, Mr Matomela, was
mainly to the Parliament's Religious Day but the team is also visiting schools,
prisons, meeting pastors and holding services. There are opportunities
to present KSB, CFT, TLW and TNT. We thank God and pray on.
Our prayers are also with John Powys as
he ministers in another part of the Eastern Cape these days.
Uncle Lionel and Aunt Ursula Muller will appreciate
your prayers as they fly over to Europe tomorrow to visit their family and the brethren.
On Tuesday 2 September we shall be celebrating
the 13th anniversary of Radio Khwezi. Once again, we lift our voices in thanksgiving
and praise to the Lord for this wonderful opportunity for ministry.
My 'beloved American couple' Rev Bill and Harriet
Bathman are bidding farewell to South Africa on Monday. They will be flying
back to resettle fully in the USA, which they call their 'new mission
field.'
On Tuesday 2 September the Bathmans will be
celebrating their 57th Wedding Anniversary. We thank God with them and wish them His
further blessing.
The 2008 CFT Conference (5-7 September) is only days
away now. As final preparations are being made we will appreciate your prayer support. We
pray for travelling mercies for those who will be coming by road, rail or air.
We pray on for TAK Radio in Berlin. Their theme today
will be '1000 Kreuze fuer das Leben'
(1 000 Crosses for Life). The guests will be Walter Krader and Susannah Kruegener
from the organisation 'Deutscher Lebensrechtsverbaende.'
Apart from discussing various pro-life aspects they
will be giving information on the '1 000 Crosses for Life' event which takes place on 20
September in Berlin. On that day they expect pro-lifers from different parts of Germany to
carry 1 000 crosses which represent the approximate number of babies killed through
abortion per day.
I seldom pass on jokes to friends but the one I got
recently gets you laughing - but you get the point.
Whether people admit it or not, when it comes to
themselves 99.99% of them are 'pro-life.'
'An airplane is flying over the United States at
night.
The pilot says: "Ladies and Gentlemen, the plane is losing altitude and all the
baggage must be thrown out." A little later, the pilot says "We're still losing
altitude, we must throw everything out that is in the cabin". The plane continues its
descent despite more things being thrown out.
Pilot: "Still going down - we must throw out some people". There's a big gasp
from the passengers!
Pilot: "But to make this fair, passenger will be thrown out in
alphabetical order.
So... A... any Africans on board?" No one moves
"B... any Blacks on board?" No one moves.
"C... any Coloureds on board?" Still, no one moves.
"D... any Darkies?
A little black boy - asks his dad:
