The Cedar Cedar College of Education team of staff and 4th year
students is back from Botswana. The reports they came back with are encouraging. As Dr
Ilsa Vermaak put it,
"We have experienced God's provision, protection and presence
throughout the outreach."
Thank you for the prayer support.
Let us pray on for CCE's hosts in Botswana, our British missionary
friend, John Walters, and the brethren.
Mario Rocha is back from Europe. He was overwhelmed by the
hospitality of the brethren wherever they visited in different countries. The fellowship
was wonderful, blessing and being blessed.
Hearing from our Rotterdam brother, Henk Vermeulen, was a pleasant
surprise for me. A friend helped him to write me an e-mail.
In September 2002 Henk had a near-fatal street accident that
landed him in hospital and later in a rehabilitation centre for a long time. After three
years his wife Hannie and the family took a bold step of sacrificial love; they
brought the handicapped Henk home, knowing well that he needed specialised care. The
house and the family routine had to be modified to fit it with the new challenging
situation. The brethren are also lending support as much as they can.
As the Lord reminds us let us pray for the Vermeulens.
Doctors for Life's Heinrich Botes came by with Susan and the boys
to say goodbye and to ask for prayers just before they flew to the USA.
Heinrich felt led to join a ministry in New York (The Smallest Seed). DFL will miss him,
and so will Radio Khwezi's Afrikaans Department where he was a big asset. We wish the
Botes family God's blessing.
- Part of me went with Onkel Friedel and Tante Rita as they took off for Europe this week.
May the Lord grant them everything they need for the various services in Europe.
As Onkel Erlo prepares for services in Europe we look to the Lord
to equip him in every way. Our prayers will accompany him.
We are thinking in a special way of the Family Conference in
Bilten, Switzerland, that begins next week. The spiritual needs and practical logistics
are quite demanding.
Beni and Ruthilde Husslig also left for Europe this week to visit
their family and the brethren. May the Lord go before them in every way.
The Verstraetens Paul and Marie-Paule are about to return
home after a brief visit in South Africa. They requested prayers for the ministry in
Belgium.
Heather Leach is back in the UK. She gets invitations to share
about the Lord and she would value your prayers.
It is a big day for Eric Fillatre and Claire-Lise
Friedli in France. On this, their wedding day, we wish them God's blessing.
Saturday 5 July's programme by
Radio Khwezi's Samkelo Shoba was indeed refreshing and challenging.
That day Samkelo featured a team from Emthaleni Centre, consisting of the
leader of the work, Sipho Zondi, and two young men, Chris Sithole and Bheki Shabalala.
Over the airwaves one could feel the passion that these men
have for souls. Apart from many activities at the centre teams from Emthaleni to reach out
to the community, amongst others, visiting schools and the bereaved.
A new development in Mthaleni's ministry that fitted in with
Samkelo's programme is the opening of doors to minister to the police and
prisoners at various stations.
What moved me most was to hear that it is actually an old lady,
Chris's grandmother, who has a special burden for the police and prisoners.
She does the knocking at the doors of police stations. When the doors open she ushers
in the young people to do the preaching.
Granny Sithole's action reminded me of those precious words that
were uttered by our Lord,
"She hath done what she could"
(Mark 14:8)
Have a blessed weekend.
- Pressing on!
In His love
