As you pray -28 June 2008

My dear friends

We were greatly encouraged on Sunday when Onkel Erlo told us that the plans for the rebuilding of the auditorium are on track. Again, this is a faith project and we will value your prayers. I smile as I think that even in my very weak state I am also looking forward to the inauguration of the new auditorium.

You can imagine how much activity there is at KwaSizabantu as final preparations are made for the week-long Youth Conference which begins on Monday, 30 June. Thousands of young people are expected to attend. This time the theme is "Liyini ithemba lakho?" (What is your hope?) May the Lord glorify Himself.

I was glad to hear Rev Raymond and Michelle Potgieter who are leading the Bible Institute in the Cape. Pray for this important ministry of training servants of God.

Gideon Jacobs from Smithfield requests prayers as he will be preaching in the Dutch Reformed Church in Burgersdorp tomorrow.

Let us pray on for DFL's Zavora Clinic project in Mozambique.  Johan Claassen says that getting containers with valuable goods for the clinic through the border is still a big challenge.

Mrs Maria Killus, the mother of Dorothea (a colleague of Prof Beyerhaus) turned 96 yesterday. You should see the beautiful German poems she still writes even as she approaches a century of life on this earth. May God bless her and the family.

TAK Radio in Berlin has a programme today where they will be focussing on home-schooling. Their guest will be Klaus Alius of CFT - Germany. May the Lord keep blessing that ministry.

We thank God for Bielstein's children's ministry, Sunny-Way. Klaus Alius requests prayers for the Sunny-Way team which has been invited by the mayor of Lostau to share about Christ the Saviour this weekend. From there the team will be travelling to Druhwald for the Day of Open Doors.

It was good to hear from Hans Koller in Voiteg, Romania. This weekend he will be driving to the capital city, Bucharest, with the Girls' Choir. The Bucharest brethren have acquired a hall which they can use for services; this weekend they will have the inauguration of the building. Remember the brethren and the ministry in Romania.

Greetings from Didier Schott and the brethren in Paris. Peter Toepfer from Hamburg (to be more specific in Druhwald) has been invited to hold two services for the youth in Paris tomorrow.

Didier has also requested prayer for his trip to the south of France for services among Gypsey Christians from Monday 30 June to Wednesday 2 July.

There was a pleasant surprise for me last week. I received an e-mail from Jenny Hals, the younger daughter of the late Pastor Charles Strickland of The Church of the Nazarene in Santa Rosa, California. The Stricklands and the church hosted us on what was my first trip to the USA in 1986. Jenny, who was a teenager then, decided to look me up through the internet. That is how she became aware of my severe illness and she has got the church praying for me, for which I am very thankful. I am sure that they would appreciate your prayers for them too.

Have a blessed weekend.

Pressing on!

In His love
