As you pray -5 February 2008
My dear friendsWe are thankful that Onkel Erlo is out of hospital. As Onkel
Friedel stressed again on Sunday, the specialist has prescribed medication and complete
rest for Onkel Erlo. We pray on.
When Jenny Christmas gave me feedback on Sunday's
meeting of CFT-KwaZulu-Natal's Provincial Committee, the Advisory Council and the
Executive I was thankful and encouraged.
In spite of negative trends around the world may
the Lord give us the grace to persevere, to shine, to brighten the corner where we
are. I believe that it will be an honourable thing if CFT's legacy will be, "They did
what they could."
Precious memories. That is how I would describe
Sunday's visit by Onkel Willi and Tante Rose from Lindach in Germany. It is a special joy
to see people with whom one has come a long way on the pilgrimage. May the Lord grant us
the grace to be faithful to the very end.
It was good to hear from Georg Grau in Lindach.
He flew to Berlin on Saturday to be with the brethren for the weekend. My thoughts and
prayers were a lot with him and the brethren. May the Lord march on in our midst.
Peter Wenger is thankful for God's working during
the preaching tour in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia which started
on the previous weekend and ended last Sunday. Juerg Laederach joined Peter and his
son Simeon (Wenger) for the Poland leg of the trip. Thank God for such wonderful
opportunities.
On a more personal note; as you are well
aware, as part of my battle with Motor Neuron Disease I have had a long struggle
with excessive salivation. That is what sent me to Parklands Hospital for radiation last
year. We did see an improvement but lately it has worsened somewhat. I must admit that it
is very uncomfortable, especially when there are people around one. Another complication
is dizziness. Medically, I am well looked after and I am truly thankful for that. On the
other hand, we must accept that human interventions have their limitations. I keep
looking to the Great Physician.
Have a blessed week.
Pressing on!
In His love
