As you pray -6 October 2007
My dear friendsYesterday
marked the 7th Anniversary of the day I was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease. Back
then, who would have thought that seven years later I would be retelling the story this
side of the sunset? Indeed, God's ways are unsearchable!
Some of you would have seen this on the
KwaSizabantu website:
"John Powys, Thomas Maphanga and Japie Fouche left
for Mozambique on the 2nd of October 2007. Their first night they spent with Carlos
Vilanculos and left the next morning to go to Chomoio in the North of Mozambique. They
will be spending five days there with farmers from Mozambique and Zimbabwe amd hold
services there.
The team will be leaving Mozambique on Monday, 8 October to go to
Malawi."
Our prayers are with them.
We are thinking in a special way of the Annual
General Meeting of Radio Khwezi's Inkanyezi Yokusa Radio Association today.
Let us remember Albu van Eeden and Alpheus
Mdlalose who are holding services in Cape Town this weekend. Rev Erlo Stegen should be
joining them later.
Next week Doctors for Life will be having a
medical outreach in Gugulethu and possibly Khayelitsha, Cape Town. The team will consist
of Dr Albu van Eeden, Dr Gene Smith from the USA, their wives and some DFL staff. They
will value your prayers.
It is also our prayer that the different actions
to commemorate the International Life Chain Day tomorrow. The main action in KwaZulu-Natal
will be in Durban tomorrow afternoon.
Herbert and Mientjie Reimer came by today with
two visiting brothers from Paraguay and one from Bolivia. As some of you know, Herbert is
from Paraguay; he and Mientjie feel that the Lord is calling them for ministry back in
Paraguay. Our prayers will accompany them as they together with their son David fly over
this week.
Jan de Bruin and the Cederborg brethren in
Middelstum, Northern Netherlands, will appreciate your prayers for the ministry,
especially amongst the young people that are roaming the streets of Middelstum.
Part of me is in Europe today where CFT-Germany
is holding the 2007 AGM in Druhwald, Northern Germany. There are guests from other
countries as well. May the Lord lead and guide them.
Klaus Alius and Albert Penner will
appreciate your prayers for their trip to Trans-Dynister where they will be
ministering from 13-15 October 2007.
We are also thinking of the preparations for the
tour of Eurochor in South Africa towards the end of October. With such a major undertaking
there are many aspects that must be seen to.
Granted, I am not a big soccer fan but some
developments in that world catch my attention.
It has been said that all political careers end
in tears. Well, that sounds like an exaggerated sweeping statement but there is some grain
of truth in it. It would appear to me that most soccer coaching careers end in tears.
In the last football season one of the top clubs
with an illustrious record in South Africa's Premier Soccer League frustrated its
fans with a series of bad play. Some regarded it as a sinking ship. Then the directors
hired a new coach who turned things around. Such was his success that he was nicknamed
'Save The Ship.' The fans cheered ecstatically.
In this new season the club has got off to a bad
start. The fans are furious. Last week 'Save The Ship' had to jump of the ship, citing
fearing for his life. Indeed, after one of the last losses the police had to whisk him
away from angry fans who wanted to tear him apart.
These events reminded me of the song,
"In times like these
you need an anchor."
Anchoring your life on fans is a fatal mistake.
What we need for an anchor for these times and into eternity is the Eternal Rock. As the
song testifies,
Have a blessed weekend.
Pressing on!
In His love
Fano Sibisi
