From the Netherlands, Peter van
Kleef is thankful for the wonderful opportunity that he and the True Love Waits team had
last Saturday to present the message of abstinence and sexual purity at the conference of
Stichting HeartCry, a ministry that is led by Arjan Baan.
As the Lord reminds us let us keep praying for the ministry
in Romania. In a recent e-mail Hans Koller shared about the growing work and the need for
more workers.
The brethren in Paris are having a special celebration this
weekend. One of the pillars of the church, Mademoiselle Monique Legal, has reached the
80-year milestone. Only God can reward Monique for the self-sacrificial way in which she
has served the Lord for many years. We wish her God's blessing.
Another recent milestone birthday was that of Frau Maria
Killus, wife of the late Pfarrer Joachim-Hans Killus and mother of Dorothea Killus. Frau
Killus turned 95 on 27 June. We thank God for her long walk with Him in His service. May
God bless her.
Our prayers are also with Klaus Alius and the team that are
ministering to a group of boys between the ages of 14 and 17 this weekend.
It was good to hear from our USA friends Dr Robert and Nora
Rew. They came out to assist in the Doctors for Life work, and back home they remain in
touch with DFL. Remember them before the Lord.
Mario Rocha writes:
"I have a prayer request for our friends in Times Square Church. A group of
approximately 200 have left for Burundi for an outreach in three main cities. The group is
composed of about sixty medical personnel some of which have taken part in clinic
outreaches with DFL. Mark Keiser departed today and requested prayer."
Ds Theuns de Wet and the brothers that were invited to the
VGK Church conference in Malmesbury last weekend are thankful for the blessed time they
had there.
The KwaSizabantu Youth Conference ended officially on
Thursday evening. We cannot thank God enough for the golden opportunity for thousands of
young people had to be exposed to the powerful and clear Gospel message. Let us pray for
the hundreds that made decisions for the Lord this week.
It was touching to see how the young people faced difficult
issues that plague our society like crime, drugs, teenage pregnancies and HIV/AIDS. They
formed different groups that identified problem areas and sought possible solutions. As
they return home and seek to be salt and light in their communities our prayers accompany
them.
'Celebrate Freedom'
Our Daily Bread's 4 July devotion (Celebrate Freedom) became
even fresher when on the same day the world celebrated the release of BBC Gaza
correspondent, Alan Johnston, who was abducted almost four months ago.
'After being kidnapped, held hostage for 13 days, and released, New Zealand news
cameraman Olaf Wiig, with a broad smile on his face, announced, I feel more alive
now than I have in my entire life.
For reasons difficult to understand, being freed is more exhilarating than being free.
For those who enjoy freedom every day, Olafs joy was a good reminder of how
easily we forget how blessed we are. This is also true spiritually. Those of us who have
been Christians for a long time often forget what its like to be held hostage by
sin. We can become complacent and even ungrateful. But then God sends a reminder in the
form of a new believer who gives an exuberant testimony of what God has done in his or her
life, and once again we see the joy that is ours when we are free from the law of
sin and death (Rom. 8:2).
If freedom has become boring to you, or if you tend to focus on what you cant do,
consider this: Not only are you no longer a slave to sin, but you are freed to be holy and
to enjoy eternal life with Christ Jesus! (6:22).
Celebrate your freedom in Christ by taking the time to thank God for the things you are
able and free to do as His servant. Julie Ackerman Link'
"The law of the Spirit of life in
Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:2)
Have a blessed weekend.
Pressing on!
In His love
