As you pray - 24 May 2007
Gideon Jacobs has been preaching in the Dutch
Reformed Church in Jamestown since Monday. His last service will be this evening. May the
Lord glorify Himself further.
We rejoice with the families of Innocent
Mabuyakhulu and Jabu Khoza who will be getting engaged at KwaSizabantu on Sunday. May the
Lord bless them.
In spite of the South African government's
secular policies that are closing doors to religion in public institutions like schools we
are overwhelmed by the hunger for God's Word at the grassroots. For example, our teams
cannot keep up with the demand from schools in our area and beyond. Secular policies or
not, teachers who are faced with enormous problems on a daily basis know that the ultimate
solution lies beyond politicians' heads and government buildings' ceilings. Your
ongoing prayer support for the teams and the situation in general will be
appreciated.
Our prayers also with Onkel Friedel, the team and
the brethren in Europe as they will be gathering at Bilten for the Pentecost
weekend.
We join the brethren in Europe as they thank God
for the milestone birthdays of Onkel Friedel (80) and Tante Rita (75). It is our prayer
that the Lord will continue to glorify Himself in and through their lives.
I must have read the following story a few times
over and it never fails to move me.
'It Is No Longer I
Soon after Augustine's conversion, he was walking down the street in
Milan,
Italy. There he met a prostitute whom he had known most intimately. She
called but he would not answer. He kept right on walking.
"Augustine," she called again. "It is I!"
Without missing a beat and with the assurance of Christ in his heart, he
replied, "Yes, but it is no longer I."
Because of Christ and His Spirit, Augustine was a changed man. He was born
again, a brand new creation.'
"Therefore, if anyone
is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Cor 5:17)
Have a blessed weekend.
Pressing on!
In His love
