As you pray - 27 January 2007

My dear friends

Bettina Marayag from Times Square Church in New York thanks for the prayers for the Pastors' Conference in the Dominican Republic. She writes:

"We stand in awe of what happened in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. After 44 countries of pastors’ conferences, I have run out of words to describe what happens in these meetings. In short, I can only say the glory of the Lord came. We were overwhelmed by His Presence."

Our prayers are with Detlef and Loretta Stegen who are ministering in Romania. They say that they have quite a busy schedule, with many opportunities to share from God's Word. Yesterday evening they met with students in Tirgoviste, Bucarest. They were accompanied by our brethren in Bucarest, the Hafners and Palumbos.

As Detlef and Loretta take the last services in Romania may the Lord be with them.

On Thursday, 20 years after the death of Dr Kurt he was remembered by the family and friends in a special way. TAK Radio in Berlin marked the day with a programme dedicated to reflecting on his life and God's working through him. They introduced one of his books 'Christus oder Satan' (Between Christ and Satan). TAK also had a telephone interview with Juergen Schlicksupp, a friend who who had a close fellowship with Dr Koch in his last days.

At Radio Khwezi, Fraenzi Stegen hosted Tante Baerbel Koch. It was touching to hear Tante Baerbel share in such a warm and fresh way about her husband. Dr Koch wrote over 100 books through which his ministry lives on.

Last week I was very pleased to get an e-mail from Dr Koch's son, Paul-Gehardt. Paul-Gehardt and his wife, Inge, were missionaries in Papua New Guinea for 8 years. For the last 20 years they are back in Germany and working for Liebenzell Mission.

Gideon Jacobs from Smithfield is thankful for the services in Bloemhof last week. He says that he saw God working in people's lives.
This weekend Gideon and a team from Smithfield are ministering in Putaditjhaba, former Basotho Qwa Qwa. May the Lord glorify Himself.

The leadership of Masibumbane Listeners' Club will be meeting at Radio Khwezi for a strategic meeting. Remember them.

For pro-lifers in South Africa it is with heavy hearts and a cry to God as we remember that on 1 February 2007, ten years since abortion-on-demand legislation came into effect about 600 000 babies have been killed. Tomorrow, 28 January, is Sanctity Life Sunday. Churches are encouraged to incorporate the message of the sanctity of life in their services. CFT is co-operating with other pro-lifers in spreading the message.
One of my pleasant surprises this week was a letter to my wife from an 11-year old girl, An-Marie Fouche. I almost could not believe my eyes when I read who her parents were. Time flies. Tom and Elaine have an 11-year old daughter already! Wait till you hear what her request was to Lindiwe.

At 11 An-Marie wants to write books and one of them is about me. She had a list of questions for Lindiwe - very relevant ones to. Pray for this budding author from Lichtenburg in Northwest.

Last week I told you how my thoughts were with the little people who began their school career this year. Since then I came upon a story from Japan that I just have to share. It is about a little boy, Nozomi, who was part of a class of beginners on their first day at school.

The pupils were nervous and so was the lady teacher. Suddenly Nozoma ran out of the classroom, came back with a bucket of cold water and emptied it on the girl that was sitting next to him. The teacher was out of her breath. She asked Nozomi repeatedly why he did such a stupid thing but the boy just kept quiet.

As time went on Nozomi turned out to be an exceptionally well-behaved boy. When that class graduated the teacher assured Nozomi that she was no longer angry with him but she still wondered why he had acted so foolish on that first day at school. Then the truth came out.

In the tense atmosphere of the first day Nozomi noticed that the little girl next to him was crying. Looking a bit closer, he soon found out why she was upset. She had had a little accident (wetted herself). So, he poured a bucket of cold water over her to conceal the real reason for her crying.

Talk about love covering a multitude of sins!

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." (1 Peter 4:8)

Have a blessed weekend.

Pressing on!

In His love

Fano Sibisi
