As you pray - 25 November 2006

My dear friends

Our prayers were with our French brethren who represented KwaSizabantu Mission and CFT at the annual evangelical conference that took place from last Sunday to Tuesday. Jean-Pierre Coulin says that CFT uses such opportunities to expose Christians to the biblical worldview on pro-life and pro-family issues.

The Berlin brethren will appreciate your prayers for their TAK Radio program this evening. Dieter Schimmelpfennig has let us know that the theme will be on the purpose of our lives. Their guest this time is Peter Toepfer from Druhwald.

Klaus Alius requests our prayers as he travels to the Cederborg in Northern Netherlands to share God's Word with the brethren tomorrow.

Kjell Olsen came by yesterday. We are thankful that he and Dr Peet Botha are back safely from a preaching tour in Germany and the USA. Kjell says that they had quite a packed programme, with lots of fellowship time with the brethren. May much fruit be borne out of the good seed sown during this trip.

We are glad to have Didier Schott and some young people from Paris with us. The church leaders from the Democratic Republic of Congo and for whom Didier will be interpreting should be arriving tomorrow. May the Lord be glorified in every way.

Jan Pienaar was part of the team that ministered in Richards Bay last weekend. He is thankful for the blessings they and the hearers received. Many people made their lives right with the Lord.

Some students from Cedar College of Education came by to say goodbye. May the Lord be with them as they join their loved ones for the holidays. We think in a special way of those who were in their final year as they seek God's guidance into the future.

Linda Magqabi from Johannesburg requests prayers for the services in Witbank, Mpumalanga, today and tomorrow. He and his family will join Onkel Waldemar and Susan Engelbrecht for the services in Witbank.

'Defend Marriage' has come up with an important initiative that we should support. Here is an excerpt from their statement,

"'Defend Marriage' is asking all churches to observe the first Sunday in
December as Sanctity of Marriage Sunday. So-called 'Same-sex marriage' is
due to become recognised by South African law on 1st December 2006 to fulfil
the judgement of the Constitutional Court made on 1st December 2005. This
threatens to seriously undermine respect for the Sanctity of Marriage in
South Africa. Respect for marriage is also under attack from numerous other
social sins.

All churches are asked to include in their service a prayer and scripture
reading to promote the Sanctity of Marriage.

This year 'Sanctity of Marriage Sunday' will be on 3rd December 2006."

The KwaSizabantu Youth Conference (8-15 December) is just a bit less than two weeks away. Preparations are on to host and feed the thousands of young people spiritually and physically. Join us in prayer for this wonderful opportunity to reach many hearts with the Good News.

A song I have heard before challenged me anew these days,

"Mein Jesus verspaetet sich nie."
(My Jesus is never late)

It takes great and sincere faith to say such words from the depth of your heart. The truth is that for our human understanding sometimes Jesus takes longer than we wish He did.

"Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
Yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days." (John 11:5-6)

Yes, sometimes we identify with the sentiments expressed by Martha and Mary,

"Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died."

As we see in this story Christ's 'delay' was part of God's plan to glorify Himself in that impossible situation.

Complete trust in Christ involves accepting that only His watch has the ultimate precision - and He is never late.

Have a blessed weekend.

Pressing on!

In His love

Fano Sibisi
