As you pray - 03 November 2006

My dear friends

The Bielstein brethren were part of a special action on Reformation Day, 31 October. Since many prefer to observe Halloween instead of the Reformation, Klaus Alius says that they and other Christian groups went into the main street of Gummersbach and shared with the people, especially the children and the youth, the Good News of our Lord and Saviour.

My Swiss nurse, Susanna Schneider, landed in Switzerland this morning. May she have a blessed time with her family. Remember the team here.

In our prayers we have accompanied the Eurochor and the team in Romania. As they finalise their performances and start on the long journey back home may the Lord go before them.

From the trip with the Eurochor Onkel Friedel and Tante Rita are expected at Kaltbrunn. Juerg Laederach mentioned how the Swiss brethren are looking forward to the time of fellowship.

This afternoon, Kjell Olsen sent me a message to say that after 22 hours of travelling from Europe he and Dr Peet Botha had arrived safely in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. They will value your prayer support. The itinerary is as follows:

2 - 9 November Tulsa
9 - 12 November Minneapolis
16 - 20 November Atlanta

Whilst Kjell is in Minneapolis, Peet should be attending a conference in Orlando, Florida, of the National Association for the Research and Therapy of Homosexuals.

Our prayers are with Ferny Jaegle as he ministers in Genets d'Or, Alsace, this weekend. The planned itinerary for next week is:

6 November Bensheim
7-8 November Freilassing
9 November Berlin
10 November Wolfsburg
11 November Lostau
12 November Druhwald

Derrick King and CFT-Pietermaritzburg are thankful for the prayers and support from other CFT regions and local churches during their prayer and protest action at the gay pageant at the PMB City Hall last Saturday. Here is an excerpt from their report:

'Some 1000 pamphlets on testimonies of ex homosexuals were handed out. Our banners included “ God made Eve and not Steve”, “Sodom had no Bible” , “God loves you but wants to change you”, “Jesus can save from all sin” etc. Protesters were physically attacked and posters were torn from our hands, which was a good sign that the devil was disturbed.'

Our thoughts are also with Peter Rice who is in Johannesburg these days (2 - 7 November) as a co-trainer in a 'Train the Trainer' workshop at the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism. His colleague is from the Radio Netherlands Training Centre.

Let us remember John and Sharon Powys and the ministry at Malelane, Mpumalanga. John is scheduled to fly to the United Kingdom next Friday.

CFT-Gauteng will appreciate your prayer support for their Life Chain in Boksburg tomorrow.

A quote that struck a chord with me these days is from John Wesley,

"One of the greatest evidences of God's love to those that love Him is to send them afflictions, with the grace to bear them."

Wesley must have learnt this precious truth in the fiery furnace of affliction.

'But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."'(2 Corinthians 12:9)

Have a blessed weekend.

Pressing on!

In His love

Fano Sibisi
