| My dear friends Thank you for the prayer support for the 8th Congress of Confessing
Christians in Bad Blankenburg last week. Dorothea Killus says they had the most wonderful
time. She adds, "We felt a deep unity all the time, and comfort and
even as we considered the suffering of our fellow Christians in the world,
wondering how Chrisians here can possibly prepare for suffering and
martyrdom as it might soon come over Europe.
Our prayers are also with Dietmar and Brigitte Joosten who
left for France and the Netherlands last week. David Crignon says they had a blessed
service with Dietmar and Brigitte in France yesterday.
There must be mixed feelings in the Schneider family of
Thun, Switzerland, today. Joel will be flying to South Africa this evening. He has kindly
offered to stand in for his sister, my Swiss nurse Susanna, who will be visiting home as
from next week. Even though Joel trained as a mechanic he has proven to be an excellent
caregiver. May the Lord bless the Schneider family.
Michael Mueller and Ismael Klein will value your prayers for
their trip to Brazil which begins on Wednesday. They have been invited to address young
people on True Love Waits and matters of abstinence. There will be services, seminars and
a TV opportunity.
We shall also be thinking of Kjell Olsen and Dr Peet Botha
who will be departing on Thursday for Germany and the USA. After services with the
brethren in various centres in Germany they will fly on to the USA where they will
minister mainly amongst the Russian American communities.
God's special working amongst the Domino Servite School
pupils remains very precious to us. Boys and girls from DSS continue to refresh many
hearts as they minister in various places. Keep praying for them. May the Lord lead and
guide those who are matriculating this year as they seek direction for their future.
This is examinations time for many primary, secondary and
tertiary students in South Africa. Staff and students will appreciate your prayers.
I grew up in a culture where the arrival of a new baby was a
complete surprise for the older siblings. With inter-cultural exchanges over the years I
have had to get used to the idea that others break the news much earlier. So, the other
day I was quite amused during a visit by a young couple and their children. An addition to
the family is due in a few months and the waiting is proving too hard for the little ones.
They fail to understand why they must wait for the whole nine months for the live doll.
You laugh. I do too. But then I ask myself if the impatient
child within me does not sometimes find the waiting on the Lord too hard. Waiting is no
child's play - it requires maturity.
"On one occasion, while he was eating
with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift
my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about." (Acts 1:4)
Have a blessed week.
Pressing on!
In His love
