| My dear friends Yesterday was another very significant day for me. It was on 5
October 2000 that after various medical tests at St Augustine's Hospital in Durban the
neurologist sat me down and broke the news to me - I was suffering from Motor Neuron
Disease. She told me frankly that no cure has been found for MND and nothing in the world
will help me.
As I relived those moments I sought the Lord's face once
again. I needed His strength in a special way in the past six years and in His grace He
sustained me in an amazing way. As I look ahead I confess once again that all my fountains
are in Him. I trust Him completely for my whole life, in this world and the next. Remember
me before the Lord.
Our prayers are with Klaus Alius, Albert Penner and Josias
Alius who flew to Moldova today for services. From there they will travel to
Trans-Dniedster, Europe's poorest country, where they will be visiting brethren who have
been attending services in the Ukraine whenever the KwaSizabantu teams were there. To get
to the services in the Ukraine the Trans-Dniester brethren have to drive for 800 km and
for that they need 24 hours. The same goes for the return trip.
We received an encouraging report from Johannes Laederach on
the True Love Waits trip in Europe. They have already done four presentations. They left
today for the last two presentations in Austria and South Tyrol (Italy, just beside
Austria)
A challenge by Michael Mueller on this tour struck me,
"Purity is much more than just physical virginity. It's the way we behave, we think,
we cloth, we react..."
From the report by Frans Gunnink on Dr Peet Botha's
presentations in the Netherlands it is clear that they have had quite a busy programme.
Apart from addressing meetings on "The Bible and Homosexuality" Peet has made
valuable contacts in different academic institutions.
Your prayers for the rest of the tour will be appreciated.
On Sunday, Peet will preach in Jakobsbrun and in Belgium. After the last service in
Middelstum on Thursday Peet and Andra will travel to Germany where Peet will address the
CFT Conference on Saturday, 14 October.
We shall also be thinking of Radio Khwezi's Masibumbane
Listeners' Club as they will be inaugurating another branch in Howick, near
Pietermaritzburg.
This afternoon, I was visited by the Domino Servite School
Grade 12 class together with their teacher, Catherine Langefeld. Time flies. These
youngsters were tiny tots just the other day, and here they are just before their final
matric examination which starts next week. Remember them.
Unknown to them, the hymn the matrics sang is one of my
favourite ones from the Dlangezwa High School days.
"Take my life, and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee..."
Recently, a friend had to take her mother, an octogenarian,
to the sea. When the old lady felt the beach sand with her feet she protested, "I
don't want this. I want the sea." In her high age the granny has forgotten that
before the sea comes the sand.
We might smile at the old lady missing such an obvious
detail but on a more serious note I was reminded that ultimately we have to walk through
the uncomfortable sands of death before we reach the glorious sea of eternal life.
"The last enemy to be destroyed is
death." (1 Corinthians 15:26)
Have a blessed weekend.
Pressing on!
In His love
