Human Right’s Day – Statement by CFT

DENIAL OF GOD’S LAWS REMOVES THE BASIS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

The starting point for Human Rights is our responsibility  to “love thy neighbour as thyself” which is found in the Old and New Testament. We often forget that this law is always linked to the first commandment to “love God”. Loving God and our neighbour implies that we will do things God’s way, as He has clearly revealed in His Word.

Any deliberate denial of God’s Word is a rejection of God Himself and it becomes impossible to love others. In the previous dispensation of racism it was necessary for Christians to reject the Government interpretation of the Bible, namely that the white race was superior to other races.

The present-day Government has also brought about laws that deliberately ignore God and the Bible. Making it legal to kill unborn babies results in about 50,000 deaths each year (since February 1997). Health authorities are proud of this figure but they complain that women still don’t have proper access to terminate their pregnancies since there are many doctors and nurses who refuse to participate in the procedure.

God has declared marriage between a man and a women to be His way of doing things. He has written this law, not only in the Bible, but also into the conscience of human beings. The rejection of this by any person or government pours contempt on all God is and has said.

The more people get used to rejecting what is clearly wrong (and confirmed by Scripture) the more human rights will be downtrodden. After all, the perpetrators of child abuse are aware that unborn babies can be legally killed. It would be interesting to know the official statistics of child abuse before and after the promulgation of the `Termination of Pregnancy Act”.

These are just two examples out of many other instances of society choosing make laws that are against God’s explicit will for humankind. There is no sound reason and no foundation for human rights if we reject the very Giver of those rights.

Nevertheless, as Christians for Truth, we must also declare God’s willingness to forgive if we repent of our sins.
