* HEART CRY FOR REVIVAL - "Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?" Psalm 85:6
Dr Peter Hammond writes, "During a recent ministry trip to Wales, I had the privilege of being a speaker at a congress and preaching in a Welsh church. They were celebrating the Centenary of the Welsh Revival of 1904 to 1905."
Joseph Jenkins, a minister in New Quay, Cardiganshire had been seeking a deeper devotional life with the Lord and had experienced an intense love of God in his life. On 1 January 1904, he had a Deeper Spiritual Life Convention, encouraging others to seek the fire of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

I LOVE THE LORD WITH ALL MY HEART!

On the 14th February 1904, at a Sunday church service, a 16-year-old girl, Florrie Evans stood to her feet and publicly confessed: "I love the Lord Jesus with all my heart." As she spoke these words, the Holy Spirit seemed to fill the meeting.
Many saw this as the beginning of the Revival. After church meetings were held to seek the Lord’s presence and empowerment and many young people, particularly girls and women in their teens and early twenties, began spending extended periods of time in intense prayer, seeking the Lord’s face!

O LORD BEND US!

On 29th September 1904, evangelist Seth Joshua was addressing a convention near Cardigan. Seth had been praying for years that God would raise up a young man from the coal mines to be used to inspire Revival in Wales. That night he saw his prayer answered. When 26 year old student, Evan Roberts made a heartrending: "Oh, Lord, bend us!" the congregation was so gripped with this prayer that Wales made this the prayer of their heart.
Evan Roberts began to speak of an extraordinary work of God in spiritual Revival. He began testifying at his church in Moriah, Lougor, that those who were seeking a deeper spiritual life with the Lord should join him in extended prayer.

KEYS TO REVIVAL

Pastors involved in the Welsh Revival regularly spoke of four keys to Revival:

  • Confess all known sin to God, receiving forgiveness by the blood of Jesus Christ.
  • Remove anything from your life that you are in doubt, or feel unsure, about.
  • Be totally yielded and obedient to the Holy Spirit.
  • Publicly confess the Lord Jesus Christ and share the Gospel with your neighbours.

"Create in me a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You." Psalm 51:10-13

IS REVIVAL THE DESIRE OF YOUR HEART?

Are you praying for a great spiritual awakening that will change our cities and our country? Is it your prayer that God may be honoured and glorified in all areas of life?
"Restore us, O God of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!" Psalm 80:7
Revivals are a sovereign move of God initiated by the Holy Spirit working through consecrated men and women. A study of the Revivals in the Bible and in history reveal that all Revivals begin with a deeper appreciation for the Holiness of God and a realization of how offensive our sin must be in the sight of our Holy God.
"Seek the Lord while He may found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake His way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord and He will have mercy on him; and to our God for He will abundantly pardon." Isaiah 55:6-7

* SAVE OUR CHILDREN NATIONAL CAMPAIGN - Psalm 94:16 "Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?"
Pastor Erroll Naidoo of His People Church has appealed to Christian Action to help in "Saving our Children". He says, "I have received many calls from concerned Christians regarding the advertising of pornographic SMS services on E-TV and the SABC, some which actually display obscene and degrading images of women. These hard-core pornographic images are available to anyone who sends an SMS to a selected number including millions of South African children with cell phones."
The Saturday Argus (5 November 05) reported in a headline story "KIDS IN PHONE PORN SHOCK" that "young children accessing hard-core porn via cell phones and the Internet have escalated to such an extent that the child protection organisation, Childline, is taking emergency steps to deal with the problem". The report went on to say that, "Childline staff were alarmed that children are increasingly emulating sex acts, such as oral sex, because of their exposure to porn". Apparently, paedophiles are using porn via cell phone technology to lure unsuspecting child victims.
Errol continues, "I feel inspired by God to encourage the Church of Jesus Christ in South Africa to rise to the challenge of confronting this evil through a concerted nationwide campaign. What we need to do as responsible citizens is flood the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa with tens of thousands of emails and faxes lodging our opposition against this attack on our children and the dignity of our women. We could also send letters to the Minister of Communications registering our outrage at this unacceptable situation."
We can win this battle. Enlist your local transformation group, congregation, home cell and youth group to fight for righteousness in our beloved country. Please ask that they send an email or fax objecting to the advertising of pornographic SMS services on national television to the addresses below. The letters must be in their personal capacity and in their own words (no form letters).
Our ultimate goal: To stop the dissemination of pornographic images via cell phones. Together we can make a difference!

* RADIO PULPIT PRESS RELEASE – WILL THE VOICE OF THE ONLY NATIONAL CHRISTIAN RADIO STATION SOON BE SILENCED? - Radio Pulpit was established in 1981. It is the only Christian radio station that broadcasts the messages of the Gospel of Jesus Christ on a national basis. This is made possible through a contract with Radio 2000 (FM), in terms of which Radio Pulpit has bought airtime of 7 hours per day from the national broadcaster for the past 17 years.
The contract with Radio 2000 (SABC) was first concluded in 1988 and was since extended on numerous occasions with the consent of various government ministers and senior officials of the SABC. Although the management of Radio Pulpit has tried everything possible over the years to make this a permanent arrangement and even get more airtime, all efforts failed.
At the same time, current broadcasting legislation does not make provision for a national Christian broadcaster and Radio Pulpit is operating without a license, despite its continuous efforts to obtain legitimacy and sustainability.
Radio Pulpit also broadcasts on 657 KHz, covering Gauteng and most of the northern parts of the country for 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Only about 270,000 listeners can hear us on MW.
On 4 August 2005 Radio Pulpit was informed by Mr Afzel Mohamed, General Manager of Radio 2000 that the airtime bought by Radio Pulpit will be reduced to two hours per weekday, i.e. from 4 to 6 am, and 4 to 7am on Sundays. He stated that the position was non-negotiable as a new program schedule will be implemented by Radio 2000 management, as from November 2005.
Urgent negotiations did however take place afterwards and on 20 September Radio 2000 announced a change of their initial decision per e-mail, which now reads as follows:
·The status quo regarding broadcasting hours will be retained until February 2006;
·Thereafter, Radio Pulpit’s airtime will be cut with 2 hours per day (4 to 9am) on weekdays;
·And as from June 2006 there will be a further reduction of 5 hours per day, leaving us with only two hours per day for Radio Pulpit broadcasts, i.e. from 4 to 6 am on weekdays and 4 to 7 am on Sundays.
The airtime offered as from June 2006 is of very little use to Radio Pulpit as only 10% of our listeners are listening during those time slots of 4 to 6 am. (Radio Pulpit Press release, 17 Nov 2005) (to index)

* THE DAILY VOICE SLANDERS THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST - The Daily Voice recently published two articles which publicly blasphemed the name of Jesus Christ. The one entitled " I saw Jesus in my toilet" and the other mocking the last supper with an alteration to the painting showing Jesus and the Twelve disciples gambling.
No paper ever mocks the name of Allah or Budha, so why then is it ok to mock the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is an absolute disgrace and the Daily Voice should be ashamed.
The Daily Voice is published daily - Monday to Friday - and widely distributed in Cape Town and the rest of the Western Cape. (Bizcommunity.com, 6 Nov 2005) (to index)

* TRIBUTE TO LATE DR. ADRIAN ROGERS - Dr. Adrian Rogers, pastor emeritus of the 28,000-member Bellevue Baptist Church and three-time president of the Southern Baptist Convention, died early this morning (15 November) as a result of complications associated with cancer and double pneumonia. Dr. Rogers served for many years on Focus on the Family's Board of Directors and had recently assumed the position of emeritus member. Focus' Founder and Chairman James C. Dobson, Ph.D., released the following statement today in response to the news:
"Shirley and I received word of the passing of our dear friend, Dr. Adrian Rogers, with heavy hearts and a sense of deep sadness. There is no-one in America whom I respected more than Dr. Rogers. He has been a faithful friend to me and to the ministry of Focus on the Family for many years, serving as a voice of wisdom, encouragement and admonition on our Board of Directors. He was also a staunch ally in the battle to defend biblical values in our culture.
"Most importantly, Dr. Rogers was responsible for impacting countless people through the faithful preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That was the defining passion of his life, from the day I first met him until the very end. For that reason, our sorrow at his passing is mixed with joy and thankfulness. We know that he is now free from the shackles of this earthly existence, and that he has entered into the very presence of the God he loved so deeply and served so diligently.
"Our deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers go out to his beloved wife, Joyce, and to their family, friends and colleagues during this time of mourning. The Church has lost one of its greatest leaders with Dr. Rogers' passing, but we know that his legacy will carry on." (Family.org, 15 Nov 2005)

* CHINA’S UNDERGROUND CHRISTIANS FLOCK IN STATE’S SHADOW - U.S. president George Bush underscored his call for religious freedom in China by attending a tightly controlled service on Sunday at one of Beijing's state-run "patriotic" Christian churches.
"My hope is that the government of China will not fear Christians who gather to worship openly," Bush told reporters outside the Gangwashi church in Beijing.
China has between 40 and 80 million active Christians, and their numbers are evenly divided between state-run and underground churches, according to expert estimates.
Only a minority of China's free-thinking dissidents are Christian, but the number seems to be growing, many of them say.
"Everything I went through convinced me that God wants to change China," said Li Baiguang, a legal scholar and rights campaigner. "We've witnessed this collapse of social values and this tyranny because people have no faith."
China's constitution formally protects freedom of belief, but the government expects Christians to worship in "patriotic" churches under state control with clergy vetted by the state.
This year Chinese officials raided unregistered Protestant churches in northern and western China and also recently arrested several priests in the country's underground Catholic church.
These harsh official attitudes make many members of China's home churches wary of official registration, said Yu, the writer.
"We should follow the Bible. We don't need the approval of a secular government to exist," he said.
