In the early 1950's, Cleveland disc jockey Allan Freed, revolutionized the music world. . .

Borrowing a ghetto term for sexual fornication, he coined the term "ROCK N ROLL". The Encyclopaedia Britannica Yearbook for 1956 described rock'n roll as, "insistent savagery . . . deliberately competing with the artistic ideals of the jungle."

The Christian community cried against this "tool of Satan." But in the 70's, a sinister hand began planting a small, but deadly seed. And the walls began to crumble. And like a raging hurricane, rock began desecrating the sacred music of the church. In they came; Bill Gaither, the Imperials, Dallas Holmes, Randy Stonehill, Keith Greene, and others. Today, rock music is a common companion of the church. And as you'll soon read; the rebellion, the sexual theme, the blasphemy, the occult influence, are found "lurking under the cover" of Christian rock.

The queen-bee of Christian rock is Amy Grant. Amy's song, "Baby, Baby", was unprecedented in Gospel Music history topping the chart as the number-one spot on Billboard magazine. Is the secular world "turning on" to Jesus? Not hardly. . . People magazine (July 15, 1991 p.71) says of Amy's video Baby, Baby, "There's saintly Amy cuddling some hunky guy, crooning "Baby, Baby" into his ear and looking pretty SLEEK AND SINFUL. . ." After all, Amy confesses, "I'm trying to look SEXY to sell a record . . ." (Rolling Stone, June 6, 1985 p. 10)

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:22, "Flee also youthful lusts:", but Amy says, "Petting happens . . . As a teenager, when I gave part of me to someone, I knew I was just going to flirt, HAVE A LITTLE FUN, . . ."(Bob Millard, Amy Grant, (New York, 1986),p. 30)

Amy says in Ladies Home Journal (December, 1985, p. 100), "I have a healthy sense of right and wrong, but sometimes, for example, using foul, exclamation-point words among friends can be good for a laugh."

Amy says, "Why isolate yourself? Your life isolates you enough. I'm isolated when I walk into a room and somebody says, She's a Christian and NOBODY OFFERS ME A JOINT and all the coke (cocaine) disappears. . ." (Bob Millard, Amy Grant, (New York, 1986), p. 169) Husband Gary Chapman confessed in People magazine (July 15, 1991 p. 72), of a six-year cocaine and marijuana addiction! Amy also says, "I remember years ago — the first time I smelled anybody smoking a joint at a concert, I WAS THRILLED . . . it meant to me that obviously this person is not affected by the church peer pressure."(Bob Millard, Amy Grant, (New York, 1986),p. 30)

On Amy's video, That's What Love Is For, Amy is dressed in a red robe, (used in witchcraft rituals) flashing on the palms of her hands, a six-pointed-star — A HEXAGRAM! Sean Sellars, a fomer satanist on death row, for sacrificing 3 people to Satan, says in his book Web of Darkness (p.51), the hexagram "is said by some to be the most powerful and evil sign in satanism and of all the occult world. The hexagram is used mainly in witchcraft to summon demons from the underworld. The word hex which means to place a curse on someone, originated from this sign." And the primary point of contact in the transmission of spirits — is the hand!

One of the most widespread and best known satanic signs is the I1 Cornuto, also known as the "satanic salute" and the "horned hand". It is made by, making a fist and extending the first (index) and last (pinkie) finger. For example. The satanic salute is displayed by satanists to acknowledge their allegiance to Satan. Anton LaVey, displays it on the back cover of The Satanic Bible. The satanic salute is popular in rock music. And on the Michael W. Smith, In Concert (Reunion Records, 1985) video tape Amy Grant clearly flashes the "satanic salute"! And it is NOT the sign language for "I love you", where the thumb is openly extended! Amy delibertely flashes the "satanic salute" at least two separate times on the video, displaying it for several seconds!

Is Amy Grant a satanist? Absolutely NOT!
But there is a definite spirit invoked in rock music, secular or Christian — and it's NOT the Holy Spirit! And many times, people involved in rock music get "caught up in this unholy spirit"!

During a 1993 Ophrah Winfrey interview, Michael Jackson, explained the reason for some of his fithly sexual gestures during his concerts:

"It happens subliminally. IT'S THE MUSIC THAT COMPELS ME TO DO IT. You don't think about it, it just happens. I'M SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM."

It's NOT the lyrics! It's the MUSIC!

How can the Holy Spirit of the Bible use fleshly music!
"For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these ARE CONTRARY THE ONE TO THE OTHER: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

Amy's album, House of Love includes the environmental-mother-earth song, Big Yellow Taxi, by new-age-priestess — Joni Mitchell. Time magazine, (December, 16, 1974, p.63) tells of Joni Mitchells intimate relationship with a muse (a demon spirit) named Art. Joni says, "I feel like I'm married to this guy named Art, I'm responsible to my Art above all else." Some of the words to Big Yellow Taxi, "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot". How different from the words of the Lord Jesus in Luke 23:43, "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Of course, what's the Bible and Jesus got to do with "CHRISTian" rock?

Following the footsteps of Amy is Sandi Patti. Sandi Patti is the highest paid Gospel entertainer in the world,averaging $75,000 for a two-hour performance (Don Cusic, Sandi Patti, (New York, 1988),pp. 211-212) (not to mention profits from T-shirts, records, etc). At $37,000 an hour, who is Sandi Patti really serving? God or mammon? Jesus Christ said in Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; . . .Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

Sandi's album, LeVoyage, is so rock oriented CCM Magazine (May 93 p.40) says ". . . old-line Patti fans are either going to be seeking refunds in droves, or be so flabbergasted at seeing an entirely new side of her . . . ." And of course, the wonderful name of Jesus is nowhere to be found.

Out of over 2000 words — the name of Jesus is nowhere to be found! What do these so-called CHRISTian stars have against the wonderful name of Jesus? You would think a real Christian would want to tell the whole world about Jesus!

What a difference from the disciples (some REAL Christians) in Acts 5:42 says, " And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ."

According to Christianity Today (September 11, 1995 pp. 72-74) Sandi Patti was committing adultery with Don Pesli as far back as 1991! And the article (p. 72) also stated that, "According to several independent sources who at different times were aware of Patty's activities, she took part in two extramarital relationships, in both cases with married men." A large part of Sandi Patti's career — she was committing adultery with married men! How could the Holy Spirit possibly bless her music!

Rather than do what the Bible commands (after all, what's the Bible got to do with it...) and get her previous marriage right with God, as her first husband wanted, — Sandi's adulterous appetite "wrecked" two families. And on August 6, 1995, after divorcing her first husband, she married Don Peslis. No wonder the name of Jesus wasn't on her last albums! Anyone living in such gross sin would have a hard time singing about sinless Jesus! 2 Timothy 2:19, ". . . Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

Matthew 16:13-23 has an amazing dialogue, between Jesus, Peter and Satan:

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not REVEALED IT unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

A few interesting things about Matthew 16:

In verse 17, Peter had a direct revelation from God — " . . .for flesh and blood hath not REVEALED it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." Again, notice God "REVEALED" it unto Peter.

But look what happens in verse 23! Just seven verses later! Jesus addresses Peter as Satan! Satan had completely taken over Peter! Notice — God "revealed it" unto Peter, but Satan "completely took over"! Peter became a third-party when Satan TOOK OVER!

Here's how some of the secular rock stars describe this "taking over":

"It’s amazing, ‘cause sometimes when we’re on stage, I feel like somebody’s just moving the pieces. . . I’m just going, ‘God, we don’t have any control over this."

"When I hit the stage it’s all of a sudden a ‘magic’ from somewhere that comes and the spirit just hits you, and you lose control of yourself."

That is not the Lord! The Lord "reveals" truth but He doesn't "take over". You don't become a third party when God is working!

Here's what Sandi Patti says:

"I know this is going to sound a little WEIRD, but many times when I’m onstage I feel that I’m kind of a THIRD PARTY to the whole thing, just standing back and watching what’s going on. I feel that the Lord is singing through me . . . "
(Don Cusic, Sandi Patti, 1988, p.214)

That is not the Holy Spirit Sandi Patti is talking about!

Notice something else in Matthew 16: Peter's motive. As Jesus began in verse 21 to tell how He would be crucified, verse 22 reads, "Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee."

What was Peter's motive? It was his LOVE FOR THE LORD JESUS! He didn't want Jesus to be crucified! And even though Peter's motive was RIGHT — when he got out of the will of God — Satan COMPLETELY TOOK OVER! You can have the RIGHT motive (even love for the Lord Jesus Christ!) and be completely WRONG and under control of Satan!

Sincerity and motive is no substitute for the WILL OF GOD!
These Christian Rock stars may have the RIGHT motive (which I seriously doubt) but nobody but a "spiritual fool" could think rock music was the direct will of God!

The secular world knows who is the "god of rock..."

Rock star David Bowie said, "Rock has always been THE DEVILS MUSIC." (Rolling Stone, Feb. 12, 1976, p. 83)

Secular rock bad girl Lita Ford, says, "Listen, rock’n roll AIN'T CHURCH. It’s nasty business. You gotta be nasty too. If you’re goody, goody, you can’t sing or play it. . ." (Los Angeles Times, August 7, 1988)

Even secular Time magazine, (March 11, 1985 p.60) in an article about Contemporary Christian Music titled the article, "New Lyrics for the DEVIL'S MUSIC".

Only backslidden, carnal Christians, who refuse to yield to the Holy Spirit, could ever think rock music was the will of God.

In 1994, Michael English swept the Gospel Music Association's Dove awards, winning six awards, including the prestigious artist of the year. But a few days later, English confessed to an affair with Marabeth Jordon of the Christian rock trio First Call. When their "pleasures of sin for a season" (see Heb. 11:25) was over — two families lay in ruins. And how did Michael English respond to his "caught in the act"? Did English show any Christ-honoring-repentance? Not hardly — he's opening for the secular group Foreigner! By the way, have you seen the cover of Michael English's latest album? With long hair, and goat-tee, a la Nirvana — the look of rebellion is openly flaunted.

People say, "Yea, but look at David's sin". Yea, but look at David's repentance! Just read Psalms 51, 51:1-3 "Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Compare that to Sandi Patti having not one, but two extramarital affairs for several years, and after "getting caught" rather than putting her previous marriage back together, she marries her "partner in crime". And English forsaking Christians and opening for secular-lustful Foreigner!

Jesus says in Matthew 7:20, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

One of the most disturbing performers is Michael W. Smith. The "idol" of screaming young Christian girls, Inside Music, Jan/Feb 91, says, "His concerts draw hundreds of thousands of fans each year, mostly teenage girls who scream out their AFFECTION FOR HIM non-stop throughout. . . . To his fans, Smith is the absolute greatest there is, BAR NONE . . ." THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST THERE IS, BAR NONE —Can any honest person who has remotely read the Bible — possibly believe God the Holy Spirit is involved in Smith's idol-worshipping music? What a mockery of the Lord Jesus Christ, who "made himself of no reputation" (Philippians 2:7). Compare Smith to John the Baptist who said in John 3:30, "He must increase, but I MUST DECREASE". Or the Apostle Paul in 1 Cor. 4:13, ". . . we are made as the FILTH OF THE WORLD, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day."

Jesus said in John 12:43, "For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God."

On the back of Smith's album The Big Picture, is Michael W. Smith — BACKWARDS! A common satanic practice, taught by satanist Aliester Crowley (Crowley is very popular in the rock music world). Crowley gives instructions to the satanist:

". . .train himself to think BACKWARDS by external means, as set forth here following.
(a) Let him learn to write BACKWARDS. . .
(b) Let him learn to walk BACKWARDS. . .
(c) Let him. . . listen to phonograph records REVERSED
(d) Let him practise speaking BACKWARDS. . .
(e) Let him learn to read BACKWARDS. . ."
(Aleister Crowley, Magick In Theory And Practice)

Having counseled teenagers in satanism, I know one of the first signs of satanic influence is writing backwards!

But something even more frightening appears on the album . . . The M in Michael and the T in Smith is part of the Runic (runic means secret) alphabet used in witchcraft and satanism! Only someone involved in the occult would know such an alphabet exists! In the book, Web of Darkness, former satanist Sean Sellers says, "Runes are the oldest form of occult knowledge and magic . . . their use sets a person against God." (Sean Sellers, Web of Darkness, p. 72)

Inside Music magazine, (Jan/Feb 91, p.23) interviewing Michael W. Smith, said, "There's also the influence of such groups as Alan Parsons in your music. It's especially noticeable on the first record, the Michael W. Smith Project (named after Alan Parsons's album, The Alan Parsons Project)." And Smith's reply, "DEFINITELY!" C'mon Smith! Alan Parsons is among the most occultic in rock! Alan Parsons has songs titled: "Lucifer", the blasphemous "Genesis Ch 1 v32" (there is no Genesis Chapter 1 verse 32!). Alan Parsons, album, Eye In The Sky on the cover (and back) is the Eye of Horus (also called the Eye of Lucifer). Not surprisingly, Smith also has an album titled, I2(EYE). Of course, the name of Jesus is nowhere to be found (did you really think it would be?)

Compare that to the Apostle Paul (a REAL Christian) in just the first chapter of 1 Corinthians:

The party-line of the Christian rockers is they're trying to reach the young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ by using rock as a tool. But how are they going to reach them with the gospel of JESUS CHRIST when they won't even mention HIS NAME?

Here's what a secular reporter in the Birmingham News wrote after watching a Michael W. Smith concert:

"If you weren’t familiar with Michael W. Smith’s standing in the world of contemporary Christian music, you might attend one of his concerts and come out none the wiser." (The Birmingham News, Feb. 12, 1993 p. 5c)

After a two-hour performance, there is not even enough of God for the lost world to even know these "so-called CHRISTian stars" are Christians! What a pitiful excuse for a Christian! Shame on you Smith! These young people are looking at you for help and inspiration and you ol'backslidden-carnal-coward, you won't even mention the name of the ONLY HELP in this universe that can help them! Many of these young people are from broken homes, shattered lives, facing tremendous peer-pressure, begging for something REAL and you will not even mention the ONLY REAL HELP in the universe! Shame on you!

The Bible is very clear! A Christian should be separated from the world. Paul says in 2 Cor. 6, "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, . . ." Ephesians 5:11 says, "And have NO FELLOWSHIP with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."

These Christian stars not only fellowship with "the unfruitful works of darkness" but guess who produced and played on Michael W. Smith's album "I'll Lead You Home" — Patrick Leonard! In case you don't know who Patrick Leonard is, he's also the producer for the queen of slut — Madonna! Maybe Smith and Madonna can do a duet of Smith's Love Crusade "...let's get on the love crusade..."

As far as Christian sanctified living which the Bible commands, here's what Smith has to say:

". . .you’re always going to have those very very conservative people. They say you can’t do this; you can’t do that, . . . you can’t drink; you can’t smoke; . . . It’s a pretty bizarre way of thinking." Michael W. Smith (The Birmingham News, Feb. 1993, p.1B)

Hey, Smith — of the ten commandments — eight were "THOU SHALT NOT..."! But, why do you keep bringing up the Bible — what does that have to do with it?

Webster dictionary defines "blasphemy" as "lack of reverence for God." Blasphemy saturates Christian rock, such as the blasphemous "humor" of Carman Dominic Licciardello, better known as Carman. His blasphemous, street-jive, dialogue between John the Baptist and Jesus Christ as teenagers on his video Live. . . Radically Saved is digusting! Here's a sample of Carman's blasphemy:

JOHN: "Hey man, Hey cuz, Whatchoo doin man? I ain't seen you in a long time. HEY, BABY." (John calling Jesus baby!) Jesus turns and says, "Hey, what's up, John?" See, Jesus is always cool; he's always together. He's got his thing together, y' know, Then Carman blasphemously imitates the Lord Jesus Christ walking hip-jive doing what Carman calls "THE MESSIAH WALK". UNGODLY! BLASPHEMY!
JOHN: "This is wild, brother, now I don't know. Man, I never had anybody in my family MAKE IT BIG . . ."

Jesus "MADE IT BIG"? Jesus Christ died a curse for sinful man! See Gal. 3:13, 2 Cor 5:17! Jesus Christ was "despised and rejected of men" (Isa 53:3). Is "MAKING IT BIG" being beaten, smitten, spit upon, mocked and crucified?

Carman's Resurrection Rap video is some of the lowest BLASPHEMY I've ever seen! In the video, Carman portrays the Lord Jesus Christ as a confused street hippie, while the pharisees and apostles are black street gang members! The crucifixion takes place, not on Calvary — but in a back alley gang fight! The Lord Jesus Christ is buried in a GARBAGE DUMPSTER. And naturally Carman includes the occult (Carman's videos are soaked in occult imagery!) as satanic tarot cards tell the Calvary story!

Carman's PERVERTED humor is the lowest BLASPHEMY I've ever heard!
And God's people defend this blasphemous trash!
I believe in humor and fun as much as anybody — BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!

Shout! magazine (December 1995, p.35) says of Carman," ...just the mention of his name brings excitement to throngs of fans, many of whom are women. " According to Shout!, Carman recently signed with secular record company, Liberty Records, for a mid-seven figure bonus — folks that's around 5 million dollars! Oh, of course, Carman's doing it because he loves the Lord... And that ol' PHARISEE HYPOCRITE Carman ridicules other Crock stars for charging at their concerts in Shout! and he signs with a secular company for a mid-seven figure bonus to spew out his BLASPHEMY! Boy! You talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

Carman's video, Witch's Invitation, is drenched in satanic symbols. Pentagrams (a five pointed star, found on the cover of the satanic Bible) and the satanic salute (index and pinky finger displayed, also found on the back of the satanic Bible) are flaunted in the video.

How come these Christian rock stars advertise for the devil? Somebody says, but Carman isn't serious. That's what Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, and others say! We're not serious, just having a little fun, just selling some records!

Birds of a feather, flock together!
And now there's even Christian Rap!

Like the group dc Talk... Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, " . . .there is NO NEW THING under the sun." But that was before dc Talk came along, as they sing, "God is doin' a NU THANG through our music" (they can't spell either!).

And where did DC Talk get together? At Jerry Falwell's Liberty University! And what does Brother Falwell think of his "rapping-rockers"? In Calendar magazine, (Spr/Sum, 1991, p.8) Falwell says, "During Toby, Michael, and Kevin's tenure at Liberty University, it was obvious to me that God had great plans for these three young men and their powerful program . . ." That's quite a statement by Brother Falwell, considering that Kevin was kicked out of Liberty for a "drinking" problem!

Toby Mckeehan says, "Music is our tool. Our MESSAGE is CHRIST." (The Birmingham News, Aug. 9, 1996 p.2H) Remember that last statement — "Our message is CHRIST".

On their album "Free At Last", they do a cover of the Doobie Brother's song (in case you don't know — a "doobie" is a marijuana joint) "Jesus is Just Alright".(to DC Talk Jesus is "still alright") Webster defines "all right" as 1) well enough 2) satisfactory (Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, 1977 p. 31)

Let's get something straight dc Talk! Jesus Christ is not "alright"! Jesus Christ is NOT 1) well enough 2) and satisfactory! Jesus Christ is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings!

DC Talk's newest release is called "Jesus Freak". In Music News, April, 1996, Toby McKeehan, says:

"'Jesus Freak' is obviously a throw back phrase. It was a negative phrase back in the late sixties, and early seventies. If you were a 'Jesus Freak', that was people talking down to you. We've chosen to take the OPPOSITE approach and say that, that's something to be happy about. The word freak, I actually looked it up in the dictionary as I was writing the song. The third definition in the copy of Webster's I have says the word freak is a noun, an ardent enthusiast. It simply says you're a sports freak, it just means you love sports, your an ardent enthusiast. You can label us Jesus freaks."

"Freak" has always been and will always be a NEGATIVE word! I also looked it up in Webster's dictionary and here's what it also reads: "a person or animal with a physical oddity who appears in a circus sideshow", or "a sexual deviate", or "a person who uses an illicit drug".(Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, 1977, p.457)

To even remotely "connect" the wonderful Lord Jesus Christ to a word with the possible meaning of a word such as "FREAK" is sacrilege, at best!

I was a "freak" before I met Jesus Christ, but Halleluah when I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour, He gave me "power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Tim 1:7) Mark Chapter 5 tells of a "freak":

5:1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

But in verse 15 AFTER he met the Lord Jesus — he was no longer a FREAK!

Toby McKeehan actually opens some concerts off by screaming, "WELCOME TO THE FREAK SHOW!" (Flint Michigan Journal, March 15, 1996, P.B19)

Here's how Dallas Morning News, (April 27, 1996) describes a DC Talk "Freak Show" concert: "As teenagers' shrieks filled the Dallas Convention Center moments before dc Talk took the stage Friday night, one of the relatively few grown-ups in the sold-out crowd observed, 'This is just like the BEATLES.'"

The Beatles were some of the most blatant, ANTI-CHRIST performers the world ever heard!

And dc Talk is "JUST LIKE the Beatles"! Don't laugh . . . Guess which song dc Talk has opened up their "Jesus Freak" concerts? Believe it or not — the song "HELP" by the anti-Christ BEATLES!

You'll never guess the song dc Talk uses toward the close of their "Jesus Freak" concert? Amazing Grace? Blessed Assurance? OH NO! They do a cover of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana's "All Apologies"!

Kurt Cobain is one of the worst ANTI-CHRIST, blasphemers since John Lennon. Kurt Cobain decorated his home with blood-splattered baby dolls hanging by their necks! Cobain ran around his neighborhood spray-painting, "ABORT CHRIST" and "GOD IS GAY". Cobain's first band was called "Fecal Matter". (Des Barres, Pamela, Rock Bottom, pp.54-55)

Not willing to be satisified with JUST singing Cobain's "All Apologies" — dc Talk drags the wonderful and holy Lord Jesus Christ into their "rock 'n' roll" "FREAK AND FILTH" show! One part of the song says "Everyone is gay" — so dc Talk changes it to "Jesus is the way"!

NO CHRISTIAN, following the Lord Jesus Christ would be "listening" to Nirvana! On their song "Stay Away" they sing "God is gay"! dc Talk not only "listens" to but ACTUALLY sings a song by a group that say's "God is a homosexual!" I got news for dc Talk — "God is NOT gay!".

And dc Talk has the audacity to claim, "Qur message is Christ"!

What about the following quotes:

"Smith, who listens MOSTLY to SECULAR MUSIC, would like to see DC Talk expand its vocabulary. 'not EVERYTHING has to be about GOD.' he says."(Flint Michigan Journal, March 15, 1996, P.B19)

Not surprizingly, Toby McKeehan, blatantly says in USA Today, "Sometimes, being labeled a Christian band, we consider that a NEGATIVE. . ."

Toby McKeehan told Billboard magazine, "Our goal has ALWAYS BEEN to be out there on a mainstream level,. . ." (Billboard, Nov. 11, 1995)

DC Talk's video "Jesus Freak" is one of the most popular Christian video's ever recorded.

But, how "Christian" is it?

"Jesus Freak" was directed by an Englishman named Simon Maxwell. And who is Simon Maxwell? Simon Maxwell is video director for the satanic and blasphemous Nine Inch Nails!

DC Talk openly admits to watching one of Nine Inch Nails videos, and liked Maxwell's style. "We had seen some of Simon's work with Nine Inch Nails", says DC Talk vocalist Toby McKeehan. "HIS STYLE APPEALED TO US." (Billboard, November 11, 1995)

Have you seen the "ultra-blasphemous" video "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails? It shows a monkey crucified on a cross!

Even Billboard magazine says of the video, "The clip's slick style and in-your-face imagery could easily fit between cutting edge video's from the likes of Nirvana to Nine Inch Nails. . ." (Billboard, Nov 11, 1995)

Simon Maxwell says the process of creating the DC Talk clip wasn't MUCH DIFFERENT from what he did on the Nine Inch Nails video. (Billboard, Nov 11, 1995)

Nine Inch Nails, lead by Trent Reznor, who even Spin magazine calls the "Evil One" (Spin, April 1997). Trent Reznor is personally responsible for the "huge-mainstream" success of the "pervereted-blasphemous-satanist" Marilyn Manson. Manson, a member of the Church of Satan, says in Spin, Aug. 96 (p.34), "Hopefully, I'll be remembered as the who brought an end to Christianity". Manson's latest album is "AntiChrist Superstar".

In the understatment of the year, Toby McKeehan told Billboard magazine, ". . . the intention of the clip was to "push the envelope" of the Christian music community. . . they expect some of the more CONSERVATIVE members of the Christian community to FROWN on the adventurous clip." God help us! God help us, that we as Christians let groups like dc Talk hide behind a "Christian" label and "pervert" our Christian young people!

A reporter for the San Diego North Country Reader, (February 29, 1996) covering a dc Talk "Freak Show" concert made these not-suprizingly, but sad words of testimony from some young people, ". . . we both laughed during the buildup for the encore of "Purple Haze/Jesus Freak" as several young booty shakers cried, almost in unison, 'These guys are the s*@!, man.'"

There is a CLEAR "testimony" of the "fruit" of dc Talk! Young people listening to them and spewing PROFANITY!

Surely "goody-goody" CCM's "Point of Grace" wouldn't sing ANYTHING by "new-age-occultic" Earth, Wind and Fire"?

On Point of Grace's album "Life, Love and Other Mysteries" is "Sing A Song" by Earth, Wind and Fire". The writer of "Sing A Song" is Maurice White — a life-long Buddhist!

One of the most openly satanic rock stars, Ozzy Osbourne is known for outlandish acts such as biting the head off a bat. Ozzy says, "I don't know if I'm a medium for some outside force or not. After watching a Jars of Clay concert, a writer for The Birmingham Post-Herald (Aug. 31, 1996, p.2A) wrote these "enlightening" words:

The song "Stairway to Heaven" by the group Led Zeppelin is the most popular song in rock history. One line of the song, says, "you know sometimes words have TWO MEANINGS." They should know — the song is drenched in satanic backmasking! One part when played forward, says: "Yes, their are two paths you can go by, but in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on." But when played backwards, you clearly hear: "IT'S MY SWEET SATAN . . . Oh I will sing because I live with Satan." Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin is a devout follower of satanist, Aliester Crowley. Page went so far as purchase Crowley's old mansion. A popular band of the 70's was The Edgar Winter Group. One of Edgar Winter's album was titled "White Trash". The cover of their album, "They Only Come Out at Night", shows Edgar Winter with makeup as a homosexual "drag-queen".

Stryper is not exactly "good little Christian boys." In 1989 Stryper toured with secular rockers White Lion. Drummer, Greg D Angelo, says, "We threw a party . . . About two in the morning ROBERT SWEET WAS WHACKED! DRUNK! He was being dragged around on his tiptoes by two women holding him up!" (RIP, June, 1989, p.41) Stryper also toured with the perverted secular group WASP (whose name stands for We Are Sex Perverts). WASP singer Blackie Lawless drinks blood on stage from a human skull. WASP spreads their satanic message, as they tell young people the vicious lie that Lucifer loves them, in "Sleeping in the Fire":

(Inside Music, Oct/Nov 90 p.16) Robert Sweet confesses, " . . . we're about the MOST UNRELIGIOUS Christian band you could imagine. . ."(Hit Parader, Nov. 1986, p.21) And according to lead singer, Michael Sweet, "We don't consider ourselves to be overly religious. . .In fact, religion has NOTHING to do with what Stryper's all about."(Hit Parader, Feb. 1987, p.41)

Stryper guitarist Oz Fox's real name is Richard Martinez. Why does Richard use the name Oz Fox? Because of an obsession with satanic rocker OZZY OSBOURNE! In fact, on their Reason for the Season album, Stryper's guitarist is listed as "OZZIE" Fox!

The name Stryper supposedly comes from Isaiah 53:5 (with his STRIPES we are healed), but in Youth magazine, Stryper guitarist Oz Fox tells the real reason: "One day Robert came up with Stryper because it rhymed with hyper . . ." (Youth, Jan. 1987, p.10) It has nothing to do with Isaiah 53! They admittedly didn t make the connection to Isaiah 53 till somebody showed them!

Stryper wears the number "777" supposedly depicting the Biblical number of perfection. But "777" is highly esteemed in witchcraft and satanism! Satanist Aliester Crowley wrote a book titled "Liber 777". The satanic group Danzig (see our tract Rock Music: The Devils Advocate) has a song titled "777" The Treasury of Witchcraft says of the number seven: "this number, in occult rites, possessed mystic implications . . . POWERFUL: TRIPLE REPETITION is characteristic of magic ritual." (Treasury of Witchcraft, p.23)

Stryper wears the colors yellow and black.
But did you know yellow and black is the color of the devil's livery or clothing!

Stryper's unique triangle logo (with a curved bottom, outline around the edge and rays emitting) on the cover of "In God We Trust" is nearly an exact copy of satanist Aliester Crowley's infamous triangle! Could the Holy Spirit of the Bible possibly be the one inspiring these Christian Rock stars to copy satanic symbols! Not once. . . but over and over and over!

Robert Sweet makes a startling admission to the truth about rock music in RIP magazine:

"As a matter of fact, the band was one thing that was making us turn and walk the OPPOSITE DIRECTION from Christianity, because, let's face it, when you're out there playing rock 'n' roll, and you're having a real good time doing your own thing it's not that you hate God or anything — you just don't want to think about Christ, because what he does is he exposes a lifestyle. If you're doing something you like doing, AND GOD SAYS NOT TO DO IT then you're not going to pay attention."

Did you read that? "...walk the OPPOSITE DIRECTION from Christianity,...AND GOD SAYS NOT TO DO IT..." These Christian rock stars (if they're really saved) KNOW deep down in their heart that rock music IS NOT HONORING THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! And that's why they will not mention Him! Instead they talk about "values", "self-esteem", etc. But values, self-esteem — won't keep you out of hell!

Jesus says in John 14:6 says, "Jesus saith unto him, I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, BUT BY ME."

Steve Taylor known for his mockery of the church, sings in "This Disco (Used to be a Cute Cathedral)": Got no need for altar calls, Sold the altar for the mirror balls . . . Sell your holy habitats/ that ship's been deserted by sinking rats. His song" I Want to be a Clone" mocks Christians who want to live a separated, sanctified life: "So now I see the whole design/ My church is an assembly line/ The parts are there, I'm feeling fine/ I want to be a clone."

One of Taylor's songs is amazingly titled "Jesus Is For Losers". What a BLATANT and WICKED contradiction to the words of the Lord Jesus Christ! In John 10:10 the lovely Lord Jesus says, ". . . I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I don't know which Jesus Mr. Taylor is talking about, but it's not the Jesus I met July 30, 1975! And it's certainly not the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible whom the Apostle Paul writes of in 1 Cor. 15:57, "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ."

How different from the songwriters who wrote Christ-uplifting songs like "Victory in Jesus" than the MOCKERY and PERVERSION of "Jesus is for Losers". Isn't it amazing how NON-Christian these so-called Christian rock stars are? I wonder if God-hater and blasphemer Ted Turner had been listening to Steve Taylor when Turner told the press, "Christianity is for LOSERS"? (The Cornerstone Challenge, Feb. 1990) Taylor and Turner certainly have the same opinion of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Jesus is NOT for losers — Jesus is for SINNERS! No one would think multi-billionare Bill Gates is a LOSER, but he certainly is a SINNER! Romans 3:23 "For ALL HAVE SINNED, and come short of the glory of God;

Why do Christians tolerate such mockery of the Lord Jesus Christ? What has happened to this generation of Christians, who claim they know the One who shed His precious blood for their sins, and yet they defend this wicked PERVERSION of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Twenty years ago such BLASPHEMY would be "run out of town"!

I related to Mr. Taylor that I had searched the lyrics of every song in his album and that, regrettably, I could not find no reference to Jesus and the Cross.

Glen Kaiser of The Rez Band says, " . . . We're musical John the Baptists . . . I think God's called us to be prophets . . ." Whose prophets are they? In their song "Fiend or Foul" they sing for Satan IN THE FIRST PERSON:

To show her contempt for God, Jefferson Airplane (a.k.a. Jefferson Starship), singer Grace Slick named her illegitimate child "god". Jefferson Airplane's song "The Son of Jesus" spews their hatred and blasphemy of the Lord Jesus Christ, they sing, Jesus was involved in the occult, had illegitmate children by Mary Magdalene, and that God the Father was sexually attracted to Jesus' daughter.:

BELIEVE IT OR NOT! One of the songs the REZ band does is a cover of "BLASPHEMOUS" Jefferson Airplane's song "Somebody to Love"!

And the REZ band, SUPPOSEDLY a follower of Jesus Christ, sings songs by BLASPHEMERS like Jesfferson Airplane! But that's not all! Another cover song the REZ band does is "Bargain" by the Who. The Who's rock opera Tommy was a BLASPHEMOUS mockery of the Lord Jesus Christ. Peter Townsend (who wrote Bargain) is a devout follower of Meher Baba.

The group, Deliverance on their album "What A Joke" (that's a perfect name), have included a cover song by satanist rockers — Black Sabbath — After Forever! Black Sabbath has given altar calls to Lucifer during their concerts! Their song N.I.B is a love song from Lucifer in which they invite the listener to take Lucifer's hand: "...my name is Lucifer/ please take my hand... "

In 1985 White Heart's lead singer was arrested for child molestation!

Petra recorded the song "God Gave Rock And Roll To You" one of the most perverted songs ever recorded! They sing: God gave rock and roll to you/ put it in the soul of everyone. . . SICK! PERVERTED! BLASPHEMY! Who but a SPIRITUAL IDIOT would think a holy God gave the rebellion of rock'n roll! The SAME SONG is on the perverted group KISS's Revenge album!

The group Kiss leaped on stage as rock'n roll demons — puking blood, breathing fire and screaming — "God of rock and roll, we'll rob you of your virgin soul!" There is no mistaking the "god" of KISS, a glance at the lyrics from "Unholy" on the same album "Revenge" show their "god of rock'n roll" :

The name Petra is supposedly is the greek word "petra" meaning rock. But Petra was also the capital of ancient Edom, a pagan land according to Malachi 1:4 ". . . whom the Lord hath indignation for ever"! Petra was the place of SATANIC HUMAN SACRIFICES!

The Daniel Band's logo is a satanic lightning bolt (Luke 10:18 Jesus says, And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.) the same as satanic rockers: KISS, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Slayer and others.

The Daniel Band blasphemously sing in their song "Party in Heaven":

These bands have no fear of God!

Bride has a song in which they speak (truthfully) in the first person for the devil. The name of the song "I'm the Devil". Now do you seriously think the Holy Spirit inspired these lyrics?

Believe it or not ! At the end of the song they actually give an invitation for the devil! Here's the unbelievable lyrics!

Bride is one of the top bands in CCM. I could write this whole tract just on Bride (as most of the others). In the song Rattlesnake, they honestly sing, "Dropping rattlesnakes in the playground / Are we evil, are we good". I have a hard time seeing Fanny Crosby singing such ungodly, wicked lyrics! And of course they blaspheme the Lord Jesus Christ. Songs like Scarecrow Messiah (how many scarecrows do you know that DIED on a rugged cross?), Psychedelic Super Jesus, Jesus Came Back via Jesus In A Pawn Shop, to name a few

Just twenty-seconds after Vengeance's album Once Dead came out stores began banning it! On their song "Beheaded" they sing: "I want (my) head chopped off/ You'll see (my) body rot/ But then (I'll) reign with Christ/ And then you will fry..." (The song ends with tortured human screams). Vengeance can also be found on the filthy secular Hard'N Heavy grind-core videos, along with satanic groups Godflesh and Napalm Death!

How's One Bad Pig for a godly, Christian name! The advertisement for their live album, Blow the House Down, says, "They're loose again! And this time it's live, unbridled mayhem. . . On stage screaming, stomping, slam dancing, stage diving, PLEADING AND PRAYING. It's the absolute wildest Christian concert ever recorded, . . " Their song "You re a Pagan", says: Feeling low, smoke a joint/ Cuss real loud, make your point/ . . . You re a pagan, that is what you be/ There's no fakin , fry like bacon/ You're a pagan.

Guess who's on their album "I Scream Sunday?" JOHNNY CASH! One Bad Pig does a duet on Johnny's own Man in Black,". CCM says "The ultimate coup is a duet with Johnny Cash on his own 'Man in Black," done in sort of an AC/DC 'Back in Black' style." (CCM, Sept 91 p. 38)

Speaking of the man in black... Johnny Cash gets the award for the biggest sellout since Judas Iscariot. Johnny's latest album is on the American (formerly Def American) record label owned by Rick Rubin. Rubin also is the producer for Cash's album. Rubin is also the producer and American is the home for Slayer, Danzig, Black Crowes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, et al. The group Danzig's logo is a picture of a demon strangling the Lord Jesus Christ while blood is coming out of Jesus's bulging eyes! Inside Danzig's album, Lucifuge, shows Glenn Danzig wearing the cross of Jesus Christ — upside down — with a demon's head in the middle of the cross. Boldly written at the top is part of John 8:44 "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.". Glenn Danzig is a hard-core satanist. To show his utter hatred for Jesus Christ, one of his songs is titled "Snakes of Christ". Now you want to hear the unbelievable? Not only did Johnny Cash record a song on American label produced by Rick Rubin — but on the album he sings a song written by satanist Glenn Danzig! The name of the song? You guessed it — Thirteen! If you know your Bible, you know the number thirteen is connected with sin and the devil!

The Birmingham News, Feb. 11, 1996 p.5F, had an ad for Silverstar gambling casino in Mississippi. Featured in the ad was none other than Mr. Johnny Cash. Johnny would be performing at the gambling casino (Feb. 29, 1996). But of course, compared with recording a song by satanist Glenn Danzig (who obviously would get royalties from Johnny recording his song) performing in a gambling casino is next to going to church.

Superstar, Mark Farner, of Grand Funk Railroad, the supergroup of the 70's, is now "singing for Jesus." One of his albums is Some Kind of Wonderful. Sound familiar? It was a sinful, lustful, mega hit for Grand Funk. Farner changed a few words and did a remake for Jesus! (not to mention the bucks he made for Mark Farner!)

The thrasher group, Mortification, (how's that for a godly name!) you'd have to hear this ungodly noise to believe it! It's deep growling sounds come straight from hell! They have wonderful Christ-honoring songs like "Terminate Damnation", "Inflamed", "Raise the Chalice" and "Lymphosarcoma".

In their song "Necromanicide", they sing:

Rotting corpses buried deep
Decomposing in a mangled heap
Unable to speak at all
Only demons answer their call. . .

If that weren't bad enough. . . at the end of Necromanicide, here's what they unbelievably sing! Read this — and tell me who inspired these lyrics!

And they're not kidding!
There it is — right from the horses (or the devil's mouth)!

The group, Tourniquet, wears on stage, the most satanic symbol found — the Goat of Mendes-Pentegram on their shirts (of course it's X'ed out)! Drummer Ted Kirkpatrick, declares, "We re really into allegory, really into SYMBOLISM, . . ." (Notebored, Sept/Oct 1991, p.10)

Some of their uplifting lyrics in "Vital Fading":

Wrinkled hands reach out for cold metal rails
This decrepit life is so frail
Body starts to shake in violent burning rigors.

Tourniquet and Mortification are among the most popular Christian bands out! Tourniquet's song "Let Us Pray"(or is it "Let Us Prey"?) was number-one for 24 consecutive weeks. The longest running number-one song in gospel music history! Some of Tourniquet's wonderful songs are "Impending Embolism", "Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance", "Ruminating Virulence", "Spectrophobic Dementia", "Incommensurate", and "Exoskeletons"

Tourniquet recently toured with anti-christ band Atheist! Tourniquet is scheduled to play the Milwaukee Metal Festival. They'll share the stage with such ungodly groups as Deicide and Morbid Angel (see our tract on Rock Music: The Devil's Advocate for more info). Deicide (whose name means the death of God) are hard-core satanists. Deicide has an album titled "Once Upon the Cross", the cover shows a cloth covering the crucified Lord Jesus Christ with blood from each wound. On the inside of the album they have taken the Lord Jesus Christ and cut Him open and are in the process of removing His insides! And Tourniquet is going to share the stage with such an ungoldy, wicked Christ-hating bunch! And Tourniquet has the audacity to claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ! And don't tell me about being a wtiness, or a light in a dark place — the Bible is clear! Ephesians 5:11 says, "And have NO FELLOWSHIP with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather REPROVE THEM."

Rock has always been and will always be the "devils' music"!
Christian rock star, Randy Matthews opened concerts for Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top (not exactly a Sunday School crowd!). Guess what happened? Let Randy tell you:

" . . . I GET UNPLUGGED at a big music festival in Pennsylvania with a band I had put together to open tour for Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. It was a Christian band, all Christian guys, but the people THOUGHT WE WERE SATANIC. So they unplugged us in front of 25,000 people. . ."

The lost people actually thought they were satanic, went over and literally unplugged them! How's that for "using rock as a tool of evangelism"!

Jesus said in Luke 16:8, ". . . the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light."

The world knows there's no such thing as "Christian rock music".

Just like there's no such thing as "Christian adultery" or "Christian homosexuality".

When it's rock — it ceases to be Christian.
If you're listening to Christian rock — STOP!
If you're in a church feeding you this garbage — GET OUT!
There's only one "Christian rock" and "THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST" (1 Cor 10:4).

2. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for your sins.

   "... Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood," Revelation 1:5

3. And the best way you know how, simply trust Him, and Him alone as your personal Savior.
   
   

   "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

   "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13
