Info on the public hearings for the new law on corporal punishment The two main issues (the new law on abortion and traditional healers)
are happening at the same time as Public Hearings at the National Parliament are being
held next week to ban corporal punishment in the home. The SACC has issued a statement
that supports the law saying: "Contrary to belief, there is no occassion in the New
Testament where Jesus promotes physical punishment as a justifiable means of discipline...
The Old Testament reflected patriarchy and slavery as the norm, and warfare as a way of
solving problems." Today is the last day to make written submissions about the
"Children's Amendment Bill". If you're able to fax or email something (not
necessarily from CFT but as a parent, etc), it would be a help. Contact details for
Children's Amendment Bill: We do need to commit everything into the Lord's hands and acknowledge that He lifts up nations and brings them down. Often, if people make a bad choice, despite a measure of light which exposes their darkness, God's hands them over to suffer the consequences. Even if bad laws are passed Christians must stand up for God's truth. Our Lord Jesus Christ is already "King of kings and Lord of lords" and He will "rule till every enemy is under is feet" (Heb 10:13).
