From 11am to 2:30pm a mass gathering will take place on the steps of Durban City Hall to celebrate Ascension Day. Although Ascension Day is no longer a calendar public holiday, Christians value the remembrance of Christ’s ascension and encourage all churches to have services on this day. Representatives from 9 different churches and Christian groups have arranged a programme for the lunch break with different speakers and musical items (including a mass choir) from various churches.

We as Christians feel that Ascension Day is a highlight in our Christian calendar where the resurrected Christ ascended to heaven, and is now Lord over all things. The same Christ will return in like manner.
