About 80 people braved the scorching Cape Town
weather at 12:30 on Friday 1st February to solemnly walk with flowers, little coffins,
crosses and banners from the Grand Parade to Parliament. The procession was led by a
hearse, and a trailer with huge banners depicting life in the womb made up the rear.
People stopped and watched in silence as the procession passed by them. The participants
included a lady who had lost a child to abortion and a child whose 16-year-old mother
decided against aborting her.
At Parliament, the little coffins, flowers and crosses were arranged outside the main
gate, and a crowd of about 150 earnestly prayed for forgiveness for allowing abortion and
for God's power to overcome this evil.
In Bloemfontein, a small group, including pastors, gathered outside the Marie Stopes
clinic in Elizabeth Street. They held posters and handed out tracts to passers by - with
the result that two people prayed to become Christians! On Sunday afternoon, a
demonstration was held outside the National Hospital in Bloemfontein. Contact Martha Dean
on 083 978 7279 for more details.
102 crosses representing the babies who lost their lives through abortion at the local
